About writing an expansion as a contest?

As we are waiting for the HQ 25, I feel that most of us have the same question… "why to wait for something new while we can make a better one for the original HQ?"
I am thinking the same, but I am talking for not an ordinary expansion as we did before. If we want to have the best quests, we should do it as a contest with the maximum participants, by posting many quests and choosing the best for each quest level by using polls. And if the most people here think that something is better than the other, it’s probably right. With 10 polls we could have the greatest expansion we could make. But first we could do one poll “write the story and choose the settings”, for example vs skaven, or vs undead, or vs dark elves, etc with the titles for 10 quests to give the main directions of the story, and maybe with the basic monsters of the game (like 6 skaven warriors, 3 skaven champions, etc).
And for each quest we will write, the main idea should be “how the quest could be if it was from an original expansion”, so to not use very extreme rules and strange things…
What do you think?

These Quests are intended to be more difficult than average. Heroes killed during any Quest are instead sent to the Black Gaol, from where must then escape (or be busted out).
A powerful Witch Hunter called The Pontifex has accused the Heroes of stealing a treasure sacred to the Faithful and sent a small army to attack the Heroes' keep.
The next Quests are:
*The Black Gaol - A Quest with many random elements. Captured Heroes, and Heroes looking to free their captured allies, can participate in this Quest multiple times.
Betrayal at High Bridge - You start on a bridge surrounded by enemy mercenaries.
The Sacred Pool - The Heroes seek out a magical pool that can deliver to them the real location of the missing treasure.
The Crucible - A two-part Quest. The Heroes must attack the Pontifex's Mountain Fastness and then both recover the missing treasure, and defeat the Pontifex.

The only problem I have with that chaotic...the first quest...if the heroes are living in the castle,
wouldn't they know the layout? Wouldn't they know where their equipment is?
Might I suggest that at the start of this quest the doors and furniture are placed, and the equipment
is shown to the players? Of course, they still won't know where all of the intruders are (wahahaha)

The flavor text of the QUest Pack will mention that the Heroes are the guests of a noble, and are in fact at his Keep.

I totally agree with patroclus! great
2 expansions i expect as nothing else: one for the dwarf and one for the wizard. With elf and barbarian overpowered (elven bracers, amulet of the north, personal potions) it is almost necessary to balance the heroes if we wish to continue the expansion packs.
So i suggest to focus on one of the remaining heroes for the sequel to write.

chaotic - AH, I see.

about this expansion writing contest...I'm not sure I understand what would be our goal. There have been quest
contests before. I don't see how this would be different?
1 - I'm guessing it would be different in that we would be looking for something BIG - a full quest pack, yes?
2 - Am I understanding that there would be a set theme - dwarf pack or wizard pack or something else?
3 - For the winner, would we all judge each quest pack, or would there be set judges? If so, how would they be chosen?
If the answer to number 1 and 2 is yes...sounds like that could be fun.

Why a Dwarf or Wizard Quest Pack? Why not a Quest Pack like the other four? You remember those, they were the good Quest Packs.

A quest pack has a theme, motifs, and a plot.
You write quests, and for them to compose a quest pack, they gotta have some kind of coherence or at least thematical thread through them.
Then they are titled as a whole.
Maybe it can then be called (inofficially) a "Dwarf" quest pack because the heroes fight chaos dwarfs, dragon hatchlings, and dispose of a crapload of traps.
But that's no must. It's a corset to the creative process.
One could however concentrate on the background of Dwarf or Wizard to give the quest pack a thematical backdrop, which would be perfectly okay.
And the supporting titles "Elf Quest Pack" and "Barbarian Quest Pack" were just market openers, let's face it.
And they were *lemony goodness*. Now to do a Dwarf and Wizard Quest Pack would mean having to do it in a bad way to keep all four coherent, or to make them far better than the previous two, which would then make it necessary to make new Elf and Barbarian QP's, and scratch the original ones from the canon.
See where this leads to? Please no Dwarf and Wizard Quest Pack with those names, please no.
