Ye Olde Inn

I think we all know chaoticprime like's to snack on hero's during / between quests but I thought I'd see what sort of GM the rest of us are.

I have two groups playing through The Gathering Storm. One's playing by the EU rules and the other, the NA rules. Neither had played HQ before although each group had a player who either has played a lot of RPG's on PC or gamed with minis. Whilst I've not tried to wipe them out, I've not been to soft either. I like seeing characters progress but making things easy takes away some of the fun. I guess I've been more like a GM than chaoticprime's 5th player. Once they've moved on from the early quests, I'll start tightening the screws

I'm rewriting the game to hand the heroes some difficulties and balancing out the role of Morcar for him to actually have a chance to win sometimes and have fun, too.
So, definitely no wannabe. I suggest a renaming into "chaoticprime's 'Kill Them' approach".

Also a good title for that last option: "I eat children"

I voted too, but I think it's hard to explain your play-style through a poll like that.
It all depends on which kind of game I'm actually playing.

If I'm GM'ing the official quests vs. 4 heroes I'm as hardcore as it gets. The lines are drawn and I'm the 5th player, trying to win. The wizard entered the room? All monsters target him.

If playing the official quests vs. less than 4 heroes, I still try to win but also cut the heroes a little slack.
Maybe the monsters spread their attacks out over several heroes instead of ganking. But seeing a 1 BP wizard? Well, then I'll still try to finish him off.
The orcs will never go "aaaaawww".

And finally if I'm GM'ing my own quests... It's a little unfair if you want to kill heroes chaotic-style AND you design the quest yourself!
When I make quests I usually go more for story and/or puzzles. Anyone who played my quest "The Mirror Maze" should know it's not exactly a death trap.
I mean, I'll definitely try to kill the players with the tools I've given myself, but as I want to see the story unfold and the puzzles solved I take on the more traditional role of a gamemaster.
Here I don't mind just taking the players along for a ride.

I would have voted 'Child Eater' but as we play EU rules it wouldn't be true. Those 1BP monsters just aren't strong enough. But I do take every opportunity to kill a Hero that I get. I've just got to convince the family to play with NA Monster Body Points....

I think I'm somewhere in the middle (voted). Haven't played much as DM yet, but I try to be as strict to the rules as possible. We do have a few houserules I keep to.

Pretty much my sentiments too while DMing. Been forever since I last played . In D&D I've been known to wipe out the entire party with a single sleep spell.

Tell them they're in a League formed here on the forums, and that league play rules install NA monster attributes.
