I'm quite pleased with how these turned out. I intended to try out the GW glazes on the two on the left (one green & one red) but I'm not sure if I want to anymore......

If you actually look at these minis, there is nothing at all supporting the weight of their poleyns, from above or below.

Should there be anything more than the strap around the back of the knee?

Haha, oh yeah. Here's a quickie diagram. http://www.medievallifestyle.com/images ... -armor.jpg

The poleyn was supported by a unified effort between cuisse and greave. Also, mail jambeau was worn beneath the plates, except for the back of the knee, (so they could, you know, walk) hence the need for fan plates. The entire set of armor pieces was called a harness, which gives you a pretty good idea of what wearing them all actually entailed having/doing.

Any armor piece that was "between" two other pieces was usually incapable of being worn without them. The breastplate, greaves, gauntlets, and gorget was basically the lot for what you could piecemail.

Well, I would not expect Chaos Warriors to be historically accurate. Their helmets would be impossibly worn, and their axes impossible to heft.

plus, they're physically altered by Chaos deities. There's probably more beneath their armor that wouldn't be historically or anatomically correct :P

As the powers of Chaos filled me, I felt as if my humanity had begun to drain away. After a few minutes of that, I looked down, and though beyond belief, I saw a pair of poleyns magically encircle my legs and rise up to rest on right over my knees. Though I was still aghast, a white-bearded man with a giant collar addressed me nonetheless. "Chaos Warrior recruit?" He said. I nodded. He produced from within his cloak a pair of nearly knee-high leather tall boots, like those commonly worn by man at sea. He handed them to me and said, "This is how you roll now. Do you understand?" I nodded and he produce another object--a perfectly round, yellow tennis ball. He then grinned evilly.
