Games Workshop store in my town!

I was on my way to visit my grandmother in the old folks home this past Sunday and glanced out the window at a strip mall and saw the familiar logo for Games Workshop above a store!

On my way back from visiting grandma, I stopped off at the store, so excited that I was surely going to find all kinds of HeroQuest stuff... but nope. Just Warharmmer and Warhammer 40K and The Hobbit stuff. But some of the models would work just fine for HeroQuest I guess. I was just hoping that they'd at least have some of the old stuff displayed.

Yeah well... They wanna sell their new stuff. Period. No hope for nostalgia there.

I was so bummed. I mean, I thought that maybe in their display case they'd show off some old HQ or AHQ or at least WHQ stuff. :/ But I suppose if I want to give my players new figures for their Heroes, we can go check out what the GW store has to offer.

I had a similar experience with a GW store in the past. Even worse the worker there then argued with me about GW even having anything to do with Hero Quest. I had to leave before I attempted to cause him harm.

Yeah, those GW store minions are kinda famous for being obnoxious. Unless you have a plan to buy and wanna dump a lot of cash, dealing with them isn't worth the eye candy, in my opinion. Best to avoid that trap and safely gawk at the window display from outside.

Does GW stores only sell GW products?
I mean... other miniature-gaming stores has all kinds of different brands and RP stuff and paint/hobby stuff. Having just one brand seems like a bad deal?

What am I missing?

Of course GW stores exclusively sell GW products. McDonalds doesn't sell Whoppers either...

Although it's a riot to ask for one at McD. The look on their faces! Especially if you ask for a McWhopper!

But why ever go to the GW store compared to an all round store. Why go to McD if I can get both the actual Whopper, Quarter Pounder and Colonel's hotwings at the local joint?

Back in the good old days GW sold other gaming products, but haven't since the early 90s, in fact the stores are practically bare of minis compared to the old days. Used to be rows and rows and rows of blister packs of every kind of mini you could think of and then some....now it's boxes of regiments in plastic (some useful), and metal has turned to Finecrap (Finecast as they call it), the piss poor resin, that bends in the sun.
I miss the good old days, when you would see a copy of Heroquest sat next to Advanced Heroquest, on a shelf, alongside all the minis and paints you could wish for in crisp paintable metal.
