Arizona has four or five Bookman's stores: they're big warehouses full of used books, dvds, electronics, boardgames, videogames, toys, you name it. We find all kinds of nifty and rare stuff there, but generally nothing very valuable -- just cool stuff we couldn't find anywhere else. I went there today with Dad and over $200 in store credit hoping to find Ed Edd n Eddy dvd sets, but to no avail. So we got a couple westerns instead and stood in the checkout line, waiting to be called next.

Dad nudges me, points to the various items behind the counter and says, "Hey, isn't that your Heroquest game?"

They had, of all things, a copy of Heroquest for sale behind the checkout counter. Used but decent condition. Absolutely complete. $95.

So my copy of Heroquest is notably heavier now... :D

Wow... 95 dollars for a secondhand game in a thriftshop? That is expensive man. Got my copy which was overcomplete for €35... still, gratz on finding one!

NA editions are noticeably more expensive than European eiditons, and there are reasons for that. NA version is just better than the Euopean edition and thus more sought after.
Also, I get the feeling that the game was much more popular in the UK and central Europe and thus much more circulated.
But 95 bucks? That's really too much if it doesn't include any expansions.

I'm lucky to find it online for less than $200, and even then it's an auction that'll reach if not surpass $200 within the last four days. Plus if it weren't for a bit of heat damage and a bit of wear and tear on a few of the miniatures, it'd be in near-mint condition. Based on the number of missing character sheets it was played four times and then left in the garage 'til it was finally traded in.

Bookman's does have its share of collectible items, which are usually kept in glass cases or on the shelves behind the checkout counter. I didn't do it much justice likening it to a thrift store -- it's far from a Goodwill or Saver's.

Oh I see, I thought it was from your description. They don't have these stores in Europe, so the name was unfamiliar ;)
