Has anyone purchased any miniatures from Avatars of War or Gamezone Miniatures? Any opinions?

I purchased the zombie wolfes from GameZone. They are great!
Just a word of warning: The photos on the Gamezone website (and most internet mechants use the same photos) are masterpieces of the art of light and shadow. The actual miniatures at first glance look much less impressive. But when you work and play with them, you will find all the great detail you were looking for and more. They are truly beautiful and surely much much better than their Greed Workshop counterparts.

Are there really people who actually buy Avatars of War miniatures? I thought this was an elaborate joke or maybe some psychological study to test how much people would be willing to pay for a little lead figure.

Good miniature deals?

I was checking things out just before I started painting minis and at the time had missed out on the reaper minis kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513061270/reaper-miniatures-bones-an-evolution-of-gaming-min?ref=search) by 3 months. I would of instantly jumped all over that but never knew about it till it was over. As such I have been looking for good deals for pricing on minis and am aiming towards http://www.thewarstore.com/product55190.html#55190, by Mantic I believe.

As I'm always dreaming and looking as IF I had the money to spend - has anyone been eyeing anything that looks like a good deal to them? I know there's a 'Various lots on evilbay' forum but couldn't find one for similar or miniature deals. Anyone else have any suggestions or ideas for good minis? For me it can be a standalone game or one I'd buy just for the miniatures.

Mantic is awesome. I got the Mhorgoth's Revenge kit, undead vs dwarves. Both armies look fantastic. Plenty of stuff to mod/customize as well.
The newer kit is Mhorgoth Rising. Besically the same kit, but with a few changes (+10 dwarven shieldbreakers, -10 ironwatch). So the second kit has a little more variety, although I modded some of my dwarves into shielbreakers.
If you prefer orcs over dwarves, get the 2 player battle set.

there are some good reviews on these kits online, and perhaps even shops with cheaper prices.

I usually try to keep my purchases to under $1/mini. I know that gets tough as the quality goes up but I'm just starting. With a larger miniature quantity purchase I'll get more painting in and hopefully build improve my painting skills. If I'm ever going to get any quality I'll have to buy a lot better paints instead of my wannabe budget stuff.

I have some of the Mantic zombies from a mixed bundle I bought at Ebay, and I think they are beautiful. As soon as I have a spare 34£, I'll get the army deal! :)
You can buy all Mantic Minis at the webshop of Mantic Games themselves, they ship free worldwide for orders over £25 / €35 / $75, wich you will match when seeing the great deals they have.

I had seen http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/loka-the-world-of-fantasy-chess?ref=city a while back and figured the pieces were decent and now that they've gotten their stretch goals you get more minis for a given price. Still more than I have at my disposal, but would be nice to get as the figures look good. I'll prolly end up playing a game of chess with me HQ minis when they're painted.

Bene do they normally list their deals on their main page? I've had some manufacturers that were't very good about letting people know about their sales and missed out before.

I'll keep my eyes out and read up on reviews for what you've suggested so far.
