Custom game boards

Postby cynthialee » March 2nd, 2012, 5:55 pm

One of the issues I have with our wonderful game is that the furniture eats up allot of space on the game board and makes moving pieces around after the 2nd or 3rd beer rather clumbsy. (yes I am a light weight)
So I was thinking if the board was just a smidgen larger then there would be no issues.

So on to the ??
Does anyone have a file of a larger game board? Not more squares, just larger squares so the minis and furniture are not such a tight fit.

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

hahahahaha so true!

I think you can take a scan of the standard board and have it printed whatever size you like.

Just print this slightly bigger. A1 size looks good to me, albeit a tad too big, but if you can print A1 in color, you're all set. It's 90MB though, so beware!

There's a link from the Inn's Homepage that goes to HQ-Modular (be sure to find the English button). The board used is split up into seperate rooms and corridors for a lay-as-you-play game. The scale of each square is enlarged to 3cm to allow for easier figure (and furniture) placement. PDFs are available in the Download section. Here's a link to speed you along.

3cm sounds too much, in my opinion...

Normal squares are like 2.3cm, and they're way too small.

2.5cm is a nice enough size in my opinion.

While I'll admit crowding weapon wielding figures on 1 inch squares is cramped and often inconvenient, I don't mind so much due to the fact that it matches D&D maps. My issue used to be with the HQ bases that were too wide. I wanted them to be square too (maybe not the Gargoyle, though).

But the mother of all affronts has to be those huge door bases not fitting on the too-thin walls. I wished the walls had been 1/2 inch. But that would have necessarily reduced room sizes and complicated the floor plans. Hrrumph. :dwarf: Another point in favor of 3 cm squares- more room for large door bases. I may make the switch one day...

I've re-based 75% of my mini's to 25mm square. Solved that problem and i really like the bevelled edges, but accidentally bought angle slotted based, now I have to 'plug' the gap before i paint the bases. woo is me
