Firstly, good on you for doing this!
Second, male and female monk heroes too please.
Third, I use miniatures from HQ as a chess set already. Can have variations on black set.
Undead against living, heroes versus zargon forces.
I use archer types for bishops, chaos furies for knights and
fimirs/chaos warriors for rooks.
Ogres would make good rooks as well, but I don't have that set yet.
Check out my dabblings in writing.

I haven't for much to add other than I would like to see 4 unique dwarf skeleton sculpts ideally for the 4 dwarf kings I would settle for different poses though.

I would like to see a mentor and morcar sculpt that uses the alter ego idea if you can capture this in 2 sculpts.

Very excited for this! I've been hunting for miniatures to stand in for the barbarian and elf packs as I cannot get them easily. With all the other models proposed here, it's an exciting time to be playing HQ!

Vampires were always something I wanted to see them do. I also would have like a Witch King model.
Some others I would have liked to have seen:

Lizardmen
Skaven
Beastmen
Morcar/Zargon Model
Haflings

As part of the expansion figures, don't forget to include Men-at-arms/Mercenary figures: Scout, Halberdier, Crossbowman, and Swordsman. Please try to work out their armor to reflect their Defend Dice rather than keeping the same body and head, if feasible. These can also work well with the chess idea, as Count Mohawk has already mentioned.

Do check out the original artwork for the unreleased HQ expansions featured at Toco's site. If you could fit those monsters and the female Wizard with similar poses and equipment, well that'd be great in my book. The monsters include a Dwarven Warrior, a Giant Spider, a Saber-toothed Cat, a Minotaur, a Ratman, and a Centaur.

Almost forgot. Why not include the Inn's HQ25 monsters? In their preferred colors, they are the Kobold, the Cultist, the Beastman, the Minotaur, the Chaos Dwarf, and the Basilisk. I mention colors because there is a NA rule about how to substitute monsters of the same color when enough of a certain type aren't available.

I would like to see some pre-vis knock ups before I say anything, nothing special just maybe a hint at a 2D turn aound or something to show what they might be like or along what lines they would be.

Why not just use Warhammer miniatures? Or Reaper miniatures? All these are available.

Now this is an idea I can get behind! I am a sometimes collector of chess sets; a Hero Quest chess set would just be icing on the cake.

What would be the pieces? Probably something like:
Pawns: Men-at-Arms (white; 4 kinds) or Goblins and Orcs (black; 4 kinds total)
Knights: Imperial Knights (white; 2 kinds) or Skeleton and Zombie (black)
Bishops: The Wizard and The Elf (white) or Fimir and Mummy (black)
Rooks: The Dwarf and The Barbarian (white) or Chaos Warriors (black)
Queen: Mentor (white) or The Witch Lord or The Gargoyle (black)
King: The Emperor, or Prince Magnus (white) or Morcar/Zargon (black)

Today on HeroQuest Fans Twitch channel we were vaguely talking about creating a HeroQuest Chess would be a great idea, and we started to think about which HeroQuest characters should represent each type of Chess piece.

Really kind to see that this idea was already though in the past here in the Inn, during Summer 2015 |_P |_P
