The ingredient in the Dettol disinfectant I use is called "Chloroxylenol" at a 4.8% solution. It's odd that Dettol don't appear to sell it in Finland, but maybe you can find a product with the same active ingredient?

Chloroxylenol is a compound added to paints and stuff to prevent them from taking on bacteria. The solvent in Dettol is the isopropanol, otherwise known as isopropyl alcohol.

Dettol is one of the best antibacterial cleaners i know. Real handy when diluted for cleaning up grazed knees and elbows lol, and it stings like all "lemony goodness" but hey works a treat :D .
When removing paint however, one of the very best things I have found is good old fashioned, cheap cheap or real pricy BRAKE FLUID.
Figures can be left to soak for several days(only required for really stubborn paint) but mostly I have found 24- 48 hrs is plenty. A stiff bristle brush (i.e HARD toothbrush or dish brush) is recommended to use as well and they clean off with warm soapy water. Aaaaand I can go down the local super market andpick up 500 ml for about $7-8 AUD ;) suhweeet.

Can you leave plastic minis of any kind in brake fluid? I thought they'd melt... Someone recommended never leaving them in for longer than 1 hour somewhere...

I've heard that too. It's safe to leave them in Dettol or Simple Green.

Do not use brake fluid on plastics. Use isopropyl alcohol. Repeat after me: "ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL."

I'd say when in doubt test it on a mini. Just make sure it's your rarest and most expensive one. The ones that I stripped the paint off I left swimming in SG for a week. Came off with minor scrubbing. The best part is they have a fresh sassafrass smell to them now! Hope that doesn't affect the primer when I get around to priming them again.

Hmmm will have to check again with some of the newer fluid. I know the stuff from a few years ago was fine but as with everything these days they may have changed the recipe. lucky I have a few spare minis around for sacrificial duties

I did find some simple green at a local hardware store on the weekend though. First time I have seen it here, but then again, I also found it by accident too. Was with the floor cleaning stuff, beside polish stripper  :?
May need to back to Bunnings for something else .... you know just to make sure
