So you'd say the only errors would be the scripted traps and the potions forfeiting the disguises?

Doing things not listed as prohibited should not lose you disguise. It doesn't say you can't drink a potion, move or a whole load of things. In my experience that is how rules work. They tell you what loses you disguise, so anything not on that list shouldn't.

Obviously there will be areas that people think are vague and maybe need clarifying, but until such is forthcoming, and barring house rules, the rules should stand as written. I will give some examples:

1) I queried whether a search could be made with an inactive monster present? It seems reasonable, but as the rules stand if a monster is present then a search is not allowed unless there has been a rules exemption, which there has not.
2) Smoke bombs? 'loud magic' is not allowed, but a smoke bomb is? Seems a bit bizarre, but there it is. Personally I don't think they should be allowed.
3) Elven Cloak? It's a magical item that gives a 'Pass thru rock' ability, but it isn't a spell and so is allowed according to the rules.

It's possible that the disguise rules were intended to work differently, but until we have official clarification/errata they stand as written.

SPOILER

Pandemonium in the Streets is the fifth quest, now start to be serious, a considerable number of monsters, you can found a couple of Spectres in a room with Cultists to improve the tremendous Channel Dread spell, my Elf wasn't insta-kill for only one BP and the Wizard too.
This Quest permit the disguise mode and I notice (is the second time) than to complish the mission you have two different ways, because when youren't disguised a rock fall and block the easy way, so you must run the other way and meet more enemies!
Personally I like this, increase the longevity of the game, you can play with skilled party, ignore the disguise and run in the old way, or also with a newbies heroes, but remember to be disguised when is permitted and you save a lot of body points! Or you can just play a hybrid version of the two, personally I'd like to try a disguised rogue and play him like a spy/scout one day.

They do seem to be going for extra replay ability here with the different outcomes and opportunity costs.

In actual practice when the heroes replay a quest after failure, Zargon is SUPPOSED to remix the quest... this prevents strict memorization (it also allows him the freedom to tinker with the difficulty if he chooses on the next run).

However we have also had the experience where a new group plays the game and one (or more) of the players already know the quest (though usually it's a case of the same Zargon running it with different players as heroes or a hero is now playing Zargon, or vice versa). Of course if it is known that the surprises are spoiled for one of the key players, a remix isn't out of the question there, but strictly optional. If the players demand it beforehand, I would remix the quest too.

But yes, the way you spend your Reputation tokens (and how many you earn), as well as the disguise thing mean different experiences.

Scales of Elethorn: Is it metal armour?

Hard to tell, it doesn't really restrict the Wizard from wearing it, which is unlike most metal armor, so I don't know if the Rogue or Druid can wear it either.

Its probably metal, but for all we know it could be made of dragon scales. Its obviously light enough for the Wizard to use, but that is all we know. Someone will have to ask Zargon on twitter.

Or as Zargons of our own group we can decide for ourselves how to play it. Hasbro has yet to answer lots of questions about spells and artifacts of Mage of the Mirror that we, in our own groups, will need to make judgement calls on.

The Wizard never had "metal" restrictions imposed upon him, the whole "metal" thing was introduced for the new heroes of the Remake. I always assumed the bracers were metal (they were changed into hardened leather in the remake).

I'm told by Warhammer Fantasy aficionados that the original reasoning was that Warhammer's Wizards can't wear metal, unless it is MAGIC metal (which is why they let the Wizard wear Borin's Armor and wield the Spirit Blade and Orc's Bane, until the North American edition specifically disallowed that). But the Wizard can still wield a metal (non-magic) dagger (daggers didn't exist in the EU edition, they were introduced in the NA edition). Go figure.
