Kinda like Kurgan I backed it mainly because Stephen Baker was invited back to make a new quest. This is key because if anyone on this project wants to make the new game consistent with the original lore of Hero Quest it would he him.

I feel that most of the people in Hasbro that worked on this don't have the same creative passion for the game. They simple just recreated the original (which didn't involve any critical thinking process at all), and brought in a few D&D players to design new characters.
D&D and HeroQuest are not the same and they miscalculated the difference in the fanbase.

I'd like to point out that as of yet noone has voted on this pole went with the option that they like the new characters and can't wait to play as them. I'll take the traditional Wizard over the Orc Bard any day.

There are a few "glitches" in the game I don't expect them to fix, that would require people who care about the game, not businessmen trying to make money. That's why they remade the game, to reap the profits that Restoration Games would have, if they were allowed to make Hero Quest Legacies. Hasbro's remake was conceived out of profit, not passion.

Most bugs were worked out in the Game System, Keller's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord because those were the ones Baker had the most involvement in. I don't think we're going to see remakes of Against the Ogre Horde, Wizards of Zargon, Frozen Horror or Mage of the Mirror, that would require a bit more doctoring I don't think they want to waste their time on.

I think the only thing I like about this is the gender options for the characters. We don't necessarily need Conan in the group, we have Red Sonia. I even like the fact that they threw in Orcwive miniatures.

Odds are, after I get the new game and my interest wears off, I'm going to revert back to the original, I prefer Fimirs and Chaos Warriors to Abominations and Dread Warriors. In fact, I mean to convert Baker's new quest to the original format.
I wouldn't sell the original, that's priceless to me, but I can see myself, given enough time selling this version when they stop making it.

I will be mothballing all my old original stuff and only using the new set most likely

I will definitely use the new 1” squares board. Probably the doors and furniture because they are more rigid. Use a mix of minifigs. I prefer the old style but will use some of the new ones for alts. Most likely use the old cards.

I would be in favor of a "stock replacement parts" thing on their website (Or mail order catalog packed in). Imagine buying just the board, or some extra dice or minis (especially monsters), or character sheet pads. Now that would be a great idea! And they should negotiate a deal with Games WorkShop to release an addon pack of alternate minis+cards for TRUE Chaos Warriors, Chaos Spells and Fimirs. I would buy it and many classic fans would too...!

Just buy the parts you want/need and you know scalpers are going to divide up their sets and sell them that way anyway at a markup eventually.

That would be putting money in Games Workshop pockets, not Hasbro.
Hasbro just jumped with this so they could get the money Restoration Games would have. Not because they care.

Hasbro cared enough about their prior property that they acquired the rights pretty much globally. (I’m not sure how the HeroQuest trademark situation is in Spain with GameZone but they don’t appear to have the licensing for it and Hasbro re-acquired it from the most recent actual owner of the HeroQuest mark, Moon Design Studios.)

Are there individuals who are passionate about HeroQuest in Hasbro? Probably. Are there individuals in the community and third party sculptors and hobbyists who are also passionate about it. Absolutely. Are one set of individuals who are passionate and enthusiastic about it more so than another? We don’t know. Maybe? Are there folks in Restoration Games who are passionate about HeroQuest? Quite likely.

Is it likely that someone is going to make money on this? Absolutely. Even Restoration Games would have been getting into this because there is money involved. Companies don’t like to get involved with projects that are money loosing operations. (Especially if there are shareholders involved.)

It’s quite likely that Hasbro is looking at HeroQuest as a branching out from their other product lines (such as DnD). Board games are currently in a resurgence, even with social distancing and folks staying at home. However, Hasbro has been doing poorly as compared to the game market as a whole since the end of 2019. So looking for alternate revenue streams is always in their interests.

This isn’t like the current situation with Games Workshop and their board games. They have multiple board games, and have released several editions of Warhammer Quest over the past four years (Silver Tower, Shadows over Hammerhal (an quasi expansion/standalone) and Blackstone Fortress. However they have all been short lived because GW is extremely market and Fear-of-missing-out (FOMO) driven for sales. Their recent WHQ:Blackstone Fortress game has none of the minor expansions still available. They have the core game, and the two primary expansions. And those are at the end of the cycle. Two years. And it’s done.

I’m cautiously optimistic. If nothing else, I can find models that will work and allow me to play the prior released expansions with a board that isn’t quite so squished. (Though I might get myself a roll up playmat version.)

A fair point, but let's think about this, some people are holding off on buying the Remake simply because it lacks the nostalgic unique features that only GW could bring. If they sold those missing components, it would have the "Hero Quest" remake logo on there, and sure, people could just use them as generic minis, but more than likely they're buying it FOR the Hasbro Remake. So a few gray and green figures in there will pay GW and Hasbro will get more people to support THEIR new product. Besides, true gamers can't resist more minis...

And the cards would be a snap to create since it's just simple world substitution (other than the illustration on the face of the Monster cards, which I'm sure there's some stock images lying around they could use).

It may never happen, but I'm just thinking of a way they could make it happen. Hardcore fans like us are going to create or buy our own minis to make it "fit better" with the vision of the ultimate remake that DID have GW involvement. So we're either going to be firing up our 3d printers, raiding Ebay or buying minis from Reaper or some other company (they don't make profit on re-sold used product).

Imagine a re-printed "EU" version of the Rule book... tons of players would want to snap that thing up! :2cents:

You'll have the fun of watching the videos and seeing the posts "unboxing" here and either become jealous or thank your lucky stars you stayed away and didn't make an impulse buy like we did. Hey, if it is a big success, they'd be idiots not to put it out in retail. If it ends up as a high priced collectible online exclusive, what's the point??
