3D Heroquest Boards

is it comfortable to play on that board with walls? Can you please post a couple of pictures with your board and some miniatures on t?
Do Ogres also fit good in a square beetween two walls?

Lestodante, here are photos of the board with some miniatures. As mentioned in my original post the corridors are quite tight even with 1.5 inch squares but I couldn't go any larger than this as the board would overhang my table. I am expanding my heroquest collection but don't yet have any ogre figures to show but I expect that they would need to either sit side on or at an angle. As you can see the bigger miniatures need to sit at an angle and the Gargoyle is the worst at fitting in the corridors but i knew it would be like this.

In the beginning I did want a 2 inch tile board which I started on XPS foam but I realised that this would be quite large on my table so I parked it for a rainy day.

Do you have some experience in this area?

May I ask what type of printer you used? the quality looks great. I wondering if I can get similar results.

I didn't use anything fancy for printing in fact I used a standard Canon home inkjet printer (model MP550), I just made sure that I had the printer set to full resolution for plain paper. I could have used photo paper and bumped up the resolution but as I was covering each sheet with a Matt Laminate to act as a water barrier (if needed) I didn't see the point in using gloss paper. If I had the choice I would have used the laser printer at my place of work as I feel a laser printer gives more vibrant colours of work but everything was in lock down so that was not an option. I kind of went over the top with laminating everything on the board so I would say that you could forego that step and just get printing on plain paper and gluing everything onto thick cardboard. If it helps I could send you a list of what I used.

Finally managed to get a 3D printer and tweaked the 3D design of my slip-over doors, the details on the original prints were quite fine and hardly noticeable but I changed the depths and cuts on almost everything, I sliced the model with 0.02mm layers and took over 5 hours to print one door on my small printer.

3D boards are always fun to look at and watch develop (never played on one before). What stops me from even attempting to create my own (other than the space, time and treasure involved) is the difficulty in customization. Making everything modular so you can place the doors and things where you need to is a must, but it greatly adds to board setup time, space requirements, etc.

And while having a physical board is always superior, building it digitally would seem like the most versatile solution (and those pictures in the opening thread look mighty cool!). Then again you could build it out of legos (and probably end up spending a lot more). I love the creative solutions and inventiveness, it's great to see, and maybe someday someone will convince me that it's worth my while to try it too.

Different types of painted foam see like a great solution, much cheaper than wood or plastic, and still look decent, but I'm only judging by what I've seen others doing.

Carry on with these awesome projects, I want to see you succeed!
