Evil wizard player is a term used in the EU Rules of Play and defined under Outline of the Game on p. 4:

There can be up to five players in the game. One player must act as Morcar, the evil wizard, and control his force of monsters. This player is called the evil wizard player. The other players control the four would-be heroes: the Elf, Dwarf, Wizard and Barbarian. These players.are called player characters.
Page 6 of the NA Instruction Booklet merely refers to this monster player as assuming the role of Zargon and the other players assuming the roles of the Heroes.

By the time we got to him he already plowed his fists in the DM's face 3 times and broke his nose.

So the whole one person pulling all the strings doesn't sit well with me.

Is this real?

I'm crying!

Yes it was very true. The DM ended up charging him. But we were all under 18 so the psycho ended up getting community hours instead of getting fudgepacked in a prison.

I want to play this game cooperatively, not 1-4 people against one. Years ago when I tried D&D we spent hours building out our characters. Finally on the first play one guy rolled some crazy rare roll and pretty much instantly killed his character he spent hours building. He lost his *lemony goodness* hardcore, before any of us could react he already jumped across the table and tackled the DM. HQ is D&D light.
Zargon is essentially the DM.
You kinda need a Dungeon Master to play Dungeons and Dragons.
Someone has to tell the story and lead the conflict.

Your friend needs help. LOTS of help.
