We need to pick up Ragnar's chronicles again. That is a promising fanmade campaign.

Ragnar's chronicles is very promising. I thought about contributing myself, but there's just so much there
already...I was having trouble reading through everything and making sense of all the material that's been
posted.

That's not to say someone else wouldn't have better luck than me. I've had trouble keeping up with the longer
threads here lately, as they get SO long just in a day, sometimes. Alas, the perils of having young kids.

I'll be working on this again in the new year. I plan to revisit the first post in the Story map and tidy that up. Hopefully that will make it easier to follow.

As things stand at the moment:
  1. Big Bene is writing an alternative set of prequel quests that expand on drathe's Outpost at the Mountains' base.
  2. Sjeng has written a 3 quest story in which the Heroes escape from Ulag (they are all captured at the end of Outpost at the Mountain's Base)
  3. I have written a quest pack that can be played through if Sir Ragnar dies in 'The Rescue of Sir Ragnar' from the Game system (or if he dies in any future quest packs added to this project)
  4. Mikemacdee has contributed a quest pack in which the Heroes are set the task of investigating a secret cult who plan to replace the Emperor with an imposter. (Sir Ragnar takes the role of Mentor in this QP)
  5. Chaoticprime, Goblin-King, Tasoe and Patroclus all contributed quests to a story in which the Heroes must vanquish an elemental demon summoned by Sir Ragnar (He has been converted to Chaos and works for Morcar in this story

This thread has been well and truly hijacked! ;)

How about a new mechanic? Thats what expansions do. Introduce a new
Mechanic or two? Descent had a unpredictive outcome based on who won the quest. So quest A . Heroes win go to quest b. baddies win. Go to quest C. It made descent 2nd edition have a massive replayability factor to its campaign. Something that could introduce some great scope for writing? Just a thought

Although I have yet to make any quests, I'm eager to help contribute to this idea! I've read through this thread and love the idea of polling everyone's ideas together. I'll be checking back on this thread to see its progression and as and when I can contribute anything I will :D

Also a note on an idea I had for a secret door/trap - have any of you used this as a new mechanic in any of your quests? As a hero walks onto the square marked secret door/trap a sliding door opens from the wall and the hero falls/dragged onto the otherside. that hero is removed from the game until his fellows companions find their way into the room he dissaperd into through an offically placed door. Inside they find the hero caught by a band of monsters; at this point the hero is placed back onto the board and is back in the action once more :D
Please PM me if any of my old links to files are currently down. I am in the process of hosting them somewhere new!

:)

gratz for the idea... this is very cinematic, I like it and I will definitely use it in my custom adventures if not in this project...

Hey, why not award a prize to the person who makes the coolest quest in the 25th pack?
We should have roughly 25 people participating ;)
