Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » March 14th, 2026, 2:07 pm

The Witch Lord and his Doomguard, who just barely hung in there, have outlasted the teams of Abraxus, Tormuk, Gragor & Festal and is almost to the Final Round. The odds are now against them so the Witch Lord will be allowed to Summon Undead in this match in addition to his other 5 spells: Command, Fear Firestorm, Lightning Bolt & Tempest. His starts are 10 Movement (one of the very few bosses that could outrun a Giant Wolf), 5 Attack, 6 Defense, 4 Body & 5 Mind (this is one of the very few times the Witch Lord may need to use his Mind Points), his Doomguard has 8 Movement, 4 Attack, 6 Defense, 3 Body & 3 Mind.

Sinestra succeeded in her first 4 battles over Kelvinos' team, Voldrung's, Magrian & Balur. Through several of these matches she needed to rely on her Summon Wolves spell. Since 2 Giant Wolves survived the last round she will not be allowed to use them here, but still has 6 other spells at her disposal: Dispel, Firestorm, Mind Blast, Mirror Magic, Restore Dread & Werewolf Curse. 2 Giant Wolves will be on her side as she was lucky to spawn 3 of them in the last battle.

Witch Lord & 1 Doomguard vs Sinestra & 2 Giant Wolves

The Witch Lord & the Doomguard come out first. The Witch Lord warns his Doomguard to keep far back as the Giant Wolves can cover a lot of distance.

The Giant Wolves run out of the opposing gate, followed by the Archmage herself, casting Werewolf Curse on the Doomguard. He rolls a :roll5: as the Curse takes hold.
The Witch Lord casts Command over a Giant Wolf, but Sinestra counters with Mirror Magic, throwing the Command spell over the Witch Lord, but he is immune to spells as this saves her Wolf. Afterwards the Witch Lord runs to the other end of the arena The Doomguard fights off the Werewolf change and moves in to attack Sinestra. Only 1 :skull: was rolled, which she failed to block. Sinestra takes 1 damage.

Reflexively Sinestra casts Mind Blast on the Doomguard as her Giant Wolf pounces on him with 5 :skull:s! He's unable to block any under Mind Blast and is mauled by the Giant Wolf. The Other Giant Wolf targets the Witch Lord and rolls a 3 :skull: attack, but the Witch Lord rolls a perfect 6 :skull: block, taking all 3 Body Points of damage, now reduced to 1.
The Witch Lord retreats from the Giant Wolf and casts Summon Undead, only rolling a :roll2:, bringing in 4 Skeletons into his service. The Skeleton scatter, attacking the Wolves, but they only inflict 1 Body Point of Damage onto each.

1 Wolf takes out a Skeleton, the other only rolled 1 :skull: that was surprisingly blocked by a Skeleton.
Sinestra says "Screw this!" And casts Firestorm over the arena, the Skeletons burn up and each of her Giant Wolves take 2 Body Points of damage, both down to 2 Body Points.
The Witch Lord runs to the corner of the arena and casts his own Firestorm spell. But Sinestra casts Dispel, to void the spell. In a Battle of mind points the Witch Lord rolls a :roll6: for a total of 11, and Sinestra rolls :roll5: for 14, successfully cancelling the spell.

One Giant Wolf is too far to reach the Witch Lord but the other pounces with 2 :skull:s. The Witch Lord just barely blocked with 2 :blackshield:s.
The Witch Lord races around the Giant Wolves for an accurate position that also includes Sinestra and casts Lightning Bolt through all 3 of them, Killing the Giant Wolves and dropping Sinestra to 1 Body Point.
As the Giant Wolves drop, Sinestra casts Restore Dread on herself. She backs away from the Witch Lord, so he'll need to use his Movement and won't be allowed to run after an attack.

The Witch Lord casts Tempest over Sinestra and moves up towards her.
She's enveloped in the whirlwind and can't do anything.
The Witch Lord attacks with 5 dice, flopping with 0 :skull:s! He retreats from her, using all 10 of his movement. She can't catch him, so her only option is take the attack and have enough left to deliver a final blow. As this plays out the Witch Lord lasts 2 hits on Sinestra, taking her down to 2 Body points.
Sinestra with a counter attack of 3 :skull:s. The Witch Lord only blocked 1, taking 2 to his death. Sinestra walks out the sole survivor, defeating the Witch Lord

Boss Battles! Final Round

Postby wallydubbs » March 15th, 2026, 12:14 am

Nelath has come a long way, still undefeated has surprisingly made it to the final round. Starting off with no allies she defeated Bellthor. In her 2nd Round match it was Melar's Abomination and an entourage of Orcs she defeated. Fanrax fell to her in the 3rd Round. Qwindrak finally met his end against the Spirit Queen. Yet a solo Gargoyle met her in the semi-final round after a few lucky breaks, in what might have been her easiest match. But now she's up against someone who can counter her spells, equal in attack and defense but excels in mind points. Nelath only excels in Body Points, but can also be defeated verbally.

Most of Sinestra's battles have relied on others to fight while she provides Spell support. Repeatedly she needed to Summon Wolves to carry the fight, but to be fair this was mainly against other bosses that could Summon supporting monsters as well. Her first round was against Kelvinos and servants of the Frozen Horror, which was a costly battle to most of her forces. Voldrung was next as she still had an Elven Archer in her service. She called upon the Giant Wolves to help defeat Magrian and Balur in the two previous rounds. Her victory was nearly complete after defeating the Witch Lord, and now in the final battle she must defeat Nelath, this time she won't be allowed to use Summon Wolves. She has never had any use for Reanimation and Werewolf Curse won't work on a spirit, but Sinestra still holds 5 available spells: Dispel, Firestorm, Mind Blast, Mirror Magic & Restore Dread.

Nelath vs Sinestra

Nelath first walks out of the gate and keeps distance back.

After the opposing gate opens, Sinestra walks out, approaching Nelath cautiously. She stops a short distance away and uses her words, "We do not need to fight, this arena has already seen enough blood, perhaps we can end this peace. I know where you come from, will you listen to me?" A :whiteshield: was rolled, taking Nelath down to 2 Mind Points.
Nelath lets out a blood curdling scream, "No, you will fear me!" She casts Fear & Firestorm simultaneously. Sinestra casts Dispel on Firestorm. With Nelath down to 2 Mind points she has no way of defeating Sinestra in a mind point battle. Firestorm is cancelled.
Sinestra rolls for Mind Points and breaks the Fear spell. She continues: "It is Zargon that has tricked you, I know because he has also corrupted me, driven me mad for power, turning me against my own sister and family, those who love me. Are there any people you love?" Rolling a 2nd :whiteshield:.
Facing a fleeting memory, Nelath screams and charges Sinestra, rolling only 1 :skull: in her attack, but Sinestra rolled 2 :blackshield:, easily defending.
Sinestra continues: "I know you heard me. You pulled your punch... I feel the conflict within you..." She rolled a :skull:.
"There is no conflict!" The Spirit Queen screams and casts Lightning Bolt and Command on Sinestra. Sinestra casts Mirror Magic, reflecting the Lightning Bolt back at Nelath, dealing 2 Body Points of damage. Sinestra also immediately rolls and breaks the Command spell.
"Stop fighting, and listen!" Sinestra screams, rolling a :skull:.
"Die!" Nelath shouts back, shaking off the damage and charging to attack, rolling 3 :skull:s in the attack. Sinestra fails to roll a :blackshield: and is down to 1 Body Point.

"If you will not hear me, I will make you listen." Sinestra casts Mind Blast on Nelath.
With 1 mind point left, Nelath fails to break the spell..
Si extra casts Restore Dread on herself.
Nelath rolls a :roll4:, failing to break Mind Burst.
"Nelath, calm yourself and hear me." Another :skull:.
Nelath struggles with a :roll1:.
Sinestra goes on, "It's okay Nelath, I know you're tormented. But I am not your enemy." She rolls a :blackshield:.
Nelath rolls :roll2:, unable to break Mind Blast.
"Her name was Silvana, wasn't it? You were very close... Like sisters... More. Your time together was cut short. You did not deserve what happened to you. You are no longer Zargon's to control." Finally, a :whiteshield:.
Nelath stops struggling, realizing what has happened to her.
"Be at peace." Sinestra instructs. Nelath fades in and out and slowly dissipates.
The Crowd becomes silent for a moment before they burst out in boos. For they are bloodthirsty and have not been sated. They begin throwing tomatoes at Sinestra, who casts Firestorm to burn them all.
Sinestra is the winner of Boss Battles.

Re: HeroQuest Survivor Series

Postby wallydubbs » April 19th, 2026, 8:48 pm

Welcome back to the arena where we'll be doing hero teams in a survivor series 4 on 4 matchups. To be more accommodating to heroes spells and skills we'll be including trophies and chests to aid in the battle. A :skull: will give a hero an extra 1 or 2 hits on one of their attacks (this must be played before a hero rolls for defense). A :whiteshield: trophy will grant the hero an extra defense or two. :blackshield:s don't normally interact with heroes, which is why this time the will register as traps that could cause 1 or 2 body points of damage.
If we're counting First Light, Mythic Tier and all other expansions we're up 32 hero molds and 12 types of heroes. We'll meet our heroes and analyze their strengths and weaknesses.

There are 4 Barbarians, 1 from the Game System, First Light, Mythic Tier & Frozen Horror. He's one of the few heroes to start with 3 attack dice from his starting Broadsword and starts off with the most body points at 8. He has no restrictions on weapons or armor except for the Wand and Bandolier. However he has no special skills or spells and is one of the weaker heroes when it comes to mind points, leaving him susceptible to Sleep, Fear & Hypnotic spells.

There is only 1 Bard from the Mythic Tier/Spirit Queen's Torment, he's one of the weaker heroes when it comes to body points but he starts off with an extra defense dice and fights with a rapier, that grants him a diagonal attack. He also has 3 helpful spells: Healing Song is one of the few spells to effect more than 1 hero and this makes the Bard very important to his team, able to grant +2 body points of healing for all his companions. Inspiring Tale can only be cast on another hero, but it can also be regained depending how that hero performs on defense; his Lullaby should do well against the stronger heroes like the Barbarian, Berserker & Knight. The Bard is not restricted on weapons or armor, but he does have an incentive to not wear metal armor or carry a shield.

There are 2 Berserkers from Jungles of Delthrak that also start with the Broadsword. Though they have 1 less body point than the Barbarian they are restricted from wielding a Crossbow, or throwing a Dagger or Hand Axe. He's also quite vulnerable to spells. But the Berserker has 3 skills: Enrage, which is a doubke-edge-sword. He can give up up to 2 Body points to lay out a fiercer attacks, but there's no guarantee that the lost body points will equate the equal damage on the opponent; Frenzy will allow them to make multiple attacks against for than 1 opponent so long as they occupy one of the 8 surrounding spaces, but he can only use this skill when down to 3 or less body points. He also has a Retaliation skill, which gives him an extra attack on an opponents turn. When taking damage that drops him to 5 Body points or below he can respond in kind with an attack of his own. This is one of the few ways a fight could potentially end in a draw.

There are 3 Druids, 1 from the Mythic Tier and 2 from Against the Ogre Horde. They're weak on attacks only starting with a Dagger, but once under her Shapeshift spell she can be quite formidable with 2 attack dice and 3 defense. She also has 2 additional healing spells in Lifeforce and Pixie. However, Pixis has an additional use if she chooses the search option, the trapped trophies will be revealed to her. The Druid is weak without her Shapeshift so it's uncertain if saving her healing spells are better to use on herself or a more competent fighter. Also she can't wear metal armor but she's not restricted from a shield.

We have 3 Dwarves from the Game System, Mythic Tier and First Light. The only difference is that the First Light Dwarf has a Hand Axe instead of a Shortsword. He's probably the most average hero in the bunch with 7 body points and 2 attack dice and no skills except for his Trap Disarmament, which he may use on the trapped chests. He also has no restrictions on weapons or armor either asides from the Wand and Bandolier.

There are 4 Elves from the Game System, Mythic Tier, First Light and Mage of the Mirror. The Elf will be relegated to using the Elf spell from Mage of the Mirror, but I favor delegating these spells to 3 groups of 3: Illusion Spells will consist of Disappear that the Elf may only cast on himself to wander around the arena unseen, he can't be attacked or the target of spells unless he rolls higher than 8 on movement, it's a good way to sneak up on opponents. They also gets Double Image, allowing any hero on their team a 50/50 chance at abstaining damage. Hypnotic Blaze can hypnotize their opponents and allies, so that's a risky spell, but it won't work on a Wizard; Nature Spells consist of Deep Sleep, which would only work on the Barbarian, Berserker, Dwarf & Knight, Fairy, an added spell with the same effects as the Druid's Pixie and Twist Wood, which can only effect weapons with wood in them such as the Staff, Hand Axe, Crossbow and Wand; the third set of spells the Elves have are Time spells consisting of Flashback, Slow & Time Stop. They have no restrictions on Armor or weapons asides from the usual Bandolier & Wand.

There are 2 Explorers from Jungles of Delthrak, they're a bit weak with 5 Body points and only 2 attack dice. Their skills are more useful in standard quests, but in the arena their Danger Sense will kick in if the fail to disarm the chests or if they pick a trapped Trophy and they'll avoid damage. With Trapsmith they'll be warned if it's a false trophy is actually a trap. Treasure Hunter will grant the Explorer 25 additional gold if they get gold from the chest. They can't wear metal armor but are allowed a shield.

There are 3 Knights, 2 from the Commander of the Guardian Knights and 1 from Rise of the Dread Moon . He likely fights for the long match having 3 defense instead of 3 attack. He has no restrictions on weapons or armor, even less restrictions with Plate Mail working in his favor that doesn't slow him down. His Knight's Challenge skill is modified to draw an opponent's attack away from an ally onto himself, so long as they are adjacent to him as well. Shield Block works the same so long as he has a shield and is adjacent to the ally he's helping. Stalwart also requires a shield. So he's fairly strong in defense, decent when attacking, but like the Barbarian and Berserker, he's weak when it comes to magic.

We have 2 Monks from Path of the Wandering Monk. The arena is his style of fight but once all his techniques are exhausted he's quite vulnerable. For having 2 attack dice while unarmed and 3 defense dice makes him quite formidable. For his Air techniques he keeps Eye of the Storm, but since there are no pit traps in the arena, Soaring Dragon will allow him to reroll all :roll1:s on movement, if he chooses to use it. Strength of Mountain stays but alternatively he can use Speak with Stone to identify which trophies are traps. Twisting Torrent is a 1-time avoidance of damage and Tidal Surge lets him split his movement before and after his attack. The Fire Techniques of Burning Spirit and Touch of Endless Inferno are well sought after and should be easy to attain in the arena. The Monk, however, has quite a bit of restrictions, as the Staff, Dagger, Shortsword and Crossbow are the only weapons he can handle while refusing to wear other armor. If he can get out of their line of sight for a turn and hide behind a pillar he might be able to regain the techniques, but once those techniques are exhausted the opposing team will know he's vulnerable.

From the Rogue Heir of Elthorn we have 2 Rogues, they'll start off equipped with the Bandolier, essentially giving them infinite throwing daggers. Having teams gives his Opportunistic Striker a chance to shine, allowing him an extra attack dice on unsuspecting victims. With Combat Mobility the Rogue will be difficult to pin down and his Ambidextrous gives him an extra attack, but I'm allowing the other team a chance to defend. The Rogue can't wear metal armor and can't wield a shield.

The Warlock came from the Mythic Tier and later Prophecy of Telor. Asides from maybe Bracers, the Warlock has already reached her glass ceiling, like the Monk. Her wand is already more powerful than any other weapon available to her. She's very weak with 4 body points, so is best attacking from afar. Dark Wings gives her cover to avoid immediate hits and move far away. Demonform ups her attack to 3 combat dice but would also allow her to ignore pit traps. Since there are no pits I'm going to grant her the same as the Monk's Soaring Dragon and let her reroll all :roll1:s in movement. Her Fear spell could keep certain heroes with low mind points at bay for a moment. The Wand will grant the Warlock ranged, diagonal and adjacent attacks. Unfortunately, she's up against other heroes, not standard monsters, this will make it more difficult to regain her Demonform once lost as she'll need to kill a hero, not a 1BP monster.

There are 5 Wizards, 1 from the Game System, 2 from the Mythic Tier set, 1 from First Light and 1 from Wizards of Morcar. With the Elf denigrated to Elf Spells the Wizard had so much versitility in his/her spells. The Wizard, as standard, is terrible in combat, but makes up for it with all his spells. The Air spells consist of Swift Wind and Tempest, which go unchanged, Genie has the 5 attack dice, but the alternate side of Genie could only force open the opposing gate if any of his team has range weapons they could potentially take their shot. Darkness spells grant the Wizard Arrows of the Night for a ranged attack, best used on the Knight; Chains of Darkness & Cloak of Shadows. In Spells of Detections the Wizard can use Clairvoyance to look at all the trophy tiles. Future Sight is the same and Treasure Horde will allow the Wizard 3 rolls for a Reward chests, but he may give up 1 roll to negate the trap. For Earth spells Rock Skin and Heal Body have the same function, as does Pass Through Rock, but as minimal as this spell is, I'll also let the hero move through the chests in the arena too. In Fire Spells Ball of Flame and Fire of Wrath are the same, and I'll be using the single use of Courage for this. In Spells of Protection the Wizard may use Invisibility to pass through opponents. Wall of Stone is the same and Unlearn CAN be used on skills as well as spells. Water of Healing and Sleep are the same, but I'm also giving Veil of Mist the minimal benefit of moving through chests.

Meeting our teams we have
Conan (Barbarian), Briane (Knight), Everette (Rogue) & Hermione (Wizard)
Vs
Barbara (Barbarian), Dora (Explorer), Eeshad (Wizard) & Gosha (Druid)

Robert "the Bruce" (Knight), Tauriel (Rogue), Mentor (Wizard) & Drew (Druid)
Vs
Thoros (Wizard), Ajax (Dwarf), Bron (Berserker) & Indiana (Explorer)

Torok (Barbarian), Arwyn (Elf), Susana Stormborn (Wizard) & Gimli (Dwarf)
Vs
Tulsi (Berserker), Alpha (Elf), Socrates (Druid) & Kubo (Monk)

Annabelle (Warlock), Parzival (Knight), Penny (Dwarf) & Link (Elf)
Vs
Marillion (Bard), Galadriel (Elf), Chun-Li (Monk) & Red Sonja (Barbarian)

All chests searched after the fight are trapped, the Dwarf and Explorer may attempt to disarm them with their superior disarm ability, while the Rogue may use his regular ability to disarm them. Otherwise the remaining heroes will need to have more than 1 Body Point, if the trap drops them to 0 Body points the match will be declared a draw. Once searched the hero rolls 2 red dice:
2 = 100 Gold
3 = 150 Gold
4 = 200 Gold
5 = 250 Gold
6 = 300 Gold
7 = Draw a Random Spell Scroll
8 = Draw a Random Potion
9 = Draw a Random Equipment card
10 = Draw a random Artifact Cards
11 = Draw 2 Equipment Cards
12 = Visit Hopkin's rest.

Conan (Barbarian), Hermione (Wizard), Brianne (Knight) & Everette (Rogue)
Vs
Barbara (Barbarian), Gosha (Druid), Eeshad (Wizard) & Dora (Explorer)

The Wizard's roll off for fist choice of spells, Eeshad rolled higher and picked Spells of Protection, Earth & Darkness
Hermione picked Air, Fire & Water

Conan is out of the gate first and runs to the center of the arena, grabbing a trophy for 2 :skull:.

Dora comes out of the opposing gate and heads towards one of the trophies, but only rolling :roll2: :roll3:, she was 1 space away, but no alarm bells go off.

Hermione, the Wizard rolls :roll3: :roll1: for movement, not going very far, so she casts Swift Wind on Brianne.

Barbara is out next and runs to the center of the arena and picks up a trophy next to Conan, pulling up a reposte token. She has a brief stare down with Conan as the two draw swords.

Brianne, under Swift Wind sprints across the arena and ends up attacking Dora before she could reach her trophy. Raining down with his sword for 1 Body Point of damage. Dora has 4 BP left.

Eeshad is out of the gate and runs over to a trophy, but instead of picking it up he simply stands over it and cast Unlearn on Hermione, randomly removing the Genie spell from her hand.

Everette runs out and decides to pick up a trophy instead of throwing a Dagger and draws a double :whiteshield: token.

Gosha is last out, only rolling :roll2: :roll2:, out of the gate and casts Shapeshift on herself, turning into a Wolf.

Conan takes his shot at Barbara and gets 2 :skull:s, but Barbara amazingly parried with 2 :whiteshield:s.

Dora doesn't bother attacking the Knight and goes for the trophy, unearthing a :whiteshield:.

Hermione casts Tempest on Eeshad and calmly walks over to a trophy.

Barbara takes a shot of her own, rolling 2 :skull:s as well. Conan rolls 2 :skull:s in defense, taking 2 body points of damage.

Brianne tries to lay the pressure on Dora but flops on her attack.

Eeshad is engulfed in a whirlwind and misses his turn, unable to help any of his compatriots.

Everette throws a dagger at Barbra as she's distracted with Conan, but flops the Opportunistic Striker and tries again with Ambidextrous, but Barbara swats the dagger away in mid-air, again rolling double :whiteshield:s.

The Druid, in Wolf form rushes down the arena and jumps after the Knight, rolling 2 :skull:s, but Brianne raised her shield just at the last second, managing 2 :whiteshield:s, blocking the Druid's attack.

Conan does some nifty swordsmanship around Barbra and rolls 3 :skull:s, Barbra only managed 1 :whiteshield: and thus takes 2 body points of damage but then decides to cash in her reposte token, and flops on the retaliation.

Dora waves her hand axe at the Knight, but he moves back, not making any contact. She sneaks away after the failed attempt, rolling :roll5: :roll5:, where she runs over to Eeshad, recovering from the whirlwind and receives no Trapsmith warning from the trophy he's standing over, she creeps closer to the two quarreling Barbarians.

Hermione picks up the 2nd to last Trophy at her feet, revealing a Reposte token.

Barbara's Broadsword clashes against Conan's as he blocked her blow.

Brianne slashes down at the Wolf with her Shortsword for 2 Body Points of damage, Gosha failed to block either, losing her Shapeshift spell in the process.

Eeshad casts Wall of Stone of between Everette and Barbra, preventing him from attacking her from afar.

The Rogue rolls barely enough movement to get around the pillar and throw a dagger at Barbra using Opportunistic Striker. He rolled 2 :skull:, but Barbara managed 1 :whiteshield:, but still drops to 5 Body Points. He throws another dagger with Ambidextrous at Eeshad, but misses.

Gosha retreats from Brianne and stops to cast Pixie on herself, restoring her Shapeshift spell.

Conan, again, shows off his excellent swordsmanship and rolls 3 :skull:s, connecting all of them to Barbra, taking her down to 2 Body points.

Dora sneaks up behind Conan and chops him in the hip with her Hand Axe, landing 2 body points of damage.

Hermione takes a closer look at all the action and casts Sleep over Barbra, who immediately rolled :roll6: :roll4:, rejecting the Sleep spell.

Barbra dances away from Conan and swings wildly at Everette, to land 2 :skull:s of damage, but the Rogue plays his 2x:whiteshield: token, to block all damage.

Brianne only rolls a :roll3: :roll3: in movement and fails to reach the Druid or the Wizard.

Eeshad picks up his trophy, which is a healing potion for 2BP and runs away from the Knight, casting Heal Body on Barbara.

Everette stabs Barbra again, this time for 2 Body Points, and tries for a 3rd with Ambidextrous, but misses.

Gosha runs from the Knight and stops to cast Lifeforce on Barbra, bringing her back to full health.

Conan looks down at Dora and swings his sword at her, but she backed away, avoiding damage. As she fell to the ground she slammed her hand axe onto Conan's foot, Bringing him down to 3 Body Points.

Hermione casts Water of Healing on Conan and runs to the far side of the arena.

Barbara swings her sword back at Conan, but he blocked it and she takes cover away from. Everette's ranged attack by the stone wall.

Brianne charges after Dora and Gosha, but Dora blocks his attack.

Eeshad spies Gosha across the arena and casts Rock Skin on her.

Everette uses Opportunistic Striker, throwing a blade at Dora, but she blocked that too. Using ambidextrous he tosses one at the Wizard, which was a miss.

Gosha casts Shapeshift on herself, coupled with Rock Skin and runs to take shelter behind the pillar and Stone Wall.

As his invisibility wears off, Eeshad runs into the Cloak of Shadows as well.

Torok (Barbarian), Susana Stormborn (Wizard), Arwyn (Elf) & Gimli (Dwarf)
Vs
Alpha (Elf), Tulsi (Berserker), Socrates (Druid) & Kubo (Monk)

Arywn wins the roll-off for Elf spells and chooses Time Spells. Alpha takes the Illusion Spells.
Susana Stormborn takes the Air, Earth & Darkness spells.

Torok rolls high enough when the gate opens that he makes it to the center of the arena and grabs a Trophy for a Minor Healing potion.
Alpha makes it out of the opposing gate to grab a trophy at his end of the arena, but it was a :blackshield: and he loses 1 Body Point.
Susana Stormborn, before running out of the gate casts Swift Wind on the Dwarf before heading over to a trophy, but doesn't pick it up yet.
Socrates is out next for his team and grabs a Trophy before the Dwarf sprints across the arena and takes it fist. It's a double :skull: tile.
Gimli doesn't roll high enough to get all the way across the arena, so he settles next to Torok and grabs that trophy, which was a trap for 2 Body points. But Arwyn casts Flashback, leaving that Trophy undisturbed, back in the gate, ready to reroll for Swift Wind, which this time, gets him all the way across the arena to launch an attack on Socrates, landing 1 hit on the Druid.
Tulsi is next to run out and immediately goes after the Barbarian, but ends up flopping on her attack.
Arwyn sneaks out and grabs the 2nd to last unchecked trophy in the arena, which is another healing potion for 2 Body points.
Kubo is last out for his team, rolling only :roll2: :roll6:, he can't reach the Barbarian so he goes after the Dwarf attacking the Druid, but only rolls 2 :whiteshield:s.

Torok attacks Tulsi, but he too rolls a perfect defense on an attack.
Alpha walks towards Susana, but doesn't have enough movement to get there, so he casts Double Image on Tulsi.
Susana Stormborn holds her ground and casts Rock Skin on Torok.
Socrates casts Shapeshift on himself, turning into a Raptor before limping away from the Dwarf, who would hopefully stay busy with the Monk.
Gimili tries to go toe-to-toe with Kubo, but his attack was blocked.
Tulsi lands 1 damage against the Barbarian as the Rock Skin fails him.
Arwyn runs across the arena to protect Susana from Alpha. She snaps her fingers and him and casts Slow. Alpha is now reduced to 1 attack dice, 1 defense dice and 1 movement so long as Arwyn sees him.
Kubo rolls double :blackshield:s in his attack, wasting it.

Torok, seeing double, hits the correct Tulsi for 1 Body Point.
Alpha, now knowing he picked the right set of spells, cast Disappear on himself, Arwyn can no longer see him, thus breaking the Slow spell.
Susana Stormborn finally picks up her trophy, revealing a Riposte token and immediately gives it to Arwyn, knowing she can't fight well.
The Druid/Raptor goes after the Dwarf, but fails to roll a :skull:.
Gimili fights back, but his attack was blocked.
Torok blocks Tulsi's attack.
Arwyn casts Time Stop on Torok, granting him 2 attacks on his next turn.
Kubo let's the Druid handle the Dwarf and runs to go help Tulsi, still opting not to use his techniques. He flops the attack regardless.

Torok splits his attacks between Tulsi and Kubo. Tulsi blocked the first attack while Kubo took 1 damage.
Alpha cuts off the Disappear spell, appearing next to Arwyn and goes for an attack he evidently misses.
Susana casts Chains of Darkness on the Berserker.
Socrates mauls Gimli for 2 Body Points of damage while the Dwarf struggles to get an hit on the Druid/Raptor.
The Berserker is restricted by shadows that restrain him while Arwyn scores a hit on Alpha.
Kubo activates Strength of Mountain to attack the Barbarian, but ends up with 4 :whiteshield:s, completely wasting the attack.

Torok ignored him and goes after the restricted Tulsi, but his Broadsword just moves through her, as he realized he hit the fake image.
Alpha scores a hit of his own on Arwyn, prompting her to cash in her riposte token and take a shot, but he blocked it.
Susana Stormborn cast Arrows of the Night on the Berserker, landing 1 Body point of damage. Since this is a spell and not a direct attack, I won't allow Double Image to block it.
Gimli blocks the Raptor's attack and came back with 2 hits of his own. Socrates blocked 1 but the other one was enough for him to lose his Shapeshift spell.
Tulsi lands 2 hits on Torok, taking him down to 5BP while Arwyn takes Alpha down to 3BP. Kubo runs across the arena and dropkicks the Wizard, Susana drops to 3BP as well.

Torok & Alpha's attacks had no effect, but Susana casts Tempest on Kubo and runs to regroup with Torok and Arwyn. Socrates tries to flee the Dwarf, but trips, only rolling :roll1: :roll2:. Regardless, he casts Pixie on himself to reclaim the Shapeshift spell. Gimli cuts into the battle to go after Alpha, but his attack was blocked. Tulsi lands another body point of damage on the Barbarian. Arwyn circles the battle to get a surprise attack on Tulsi, landing 2 hits, but unfortunately this hits the Double Image.
Arwyn, Gimli, Torok and Susana were all in good position for Kubo to use his Eye of the Storm technique, but he was currently under the effects of Tempest.

Torok fails to land a hit on Tulsi, but Alpha does bring Gimli down to 4BP. Susana casts Cloak of Shadows around her party, Tulsi and Alpha are enveloped too. This breaks the Double Image spell as well as resetting Kubo's used technique.
Socrates casts Shapeshift on himself and runs to join Kubo, following the adage, strength in numbers. Gimli runs out next and attacks Kubo, for 1 hit, but he uses Twisting Torrent to avoid damage. Tulsi it out next to attack the Dwarf but whiffs on her attack. Arwyn tries the blindside the Berserker, but Tulsi rolls double :whiteshield:s in defense. Kubo uses Strength of Mountain to get a massive 3 :skull: hit on the Dwarf, taking Gimli down to 1 Body point and sidesteps afterwards.

Torok comes out and goes after Tulsi, but flops the attack. Alpha smells blood and runs out to take out Gimli, but he too misses. Susana, now out of the shadows, finds a vantage point to cast Heal Body on Gimli, bringing him back to 5 Body Points.
Socrates flopped, but Gimli slammed his head into Alpha's gut, knocking the wind out of him for 1 BP of damage. Tulsi also takes Torok down to 3 Body Points.
Tulsi blocked Arwyn's attack and Kubo uses his Eye of the Storm Technique on Gimli and Arwyn. Gimili blocks but Arwyn takes 2 damage, readying his Fire Technique.

As soon as Tulsi blocks Torok's attack, the Barbarian calls all his teammates back to the Cloak of Shadows.
After Alpha fails his attack he tries to cut off the escape of Susana and Gimli. But Susana casts Pass Through Rock, running through the pillar to take refuge in the Cloak of Shadows. The Raptor than tries to cut off Arwyn too while failing his attack. Gimili rolled high enough to get around his adversaries and made it to the Shadows.
After flopping, Tulsi moves to cut off Arwyn's escape. Only a very high roll will allow her enough movement to get around everyone to escape. With an :roll6: :roll2:, Arwyn runs past Alpha and around the pillar, but ends up 1 space too short to make safety. Kubo had just enough movement to reach her and hits her with the Touch of Endless Inferno.

Torok comes out of the Cloak of Shadows to dish out some much deserved revenge on Kubo, landing 2 hits with his Broadsword. Alpha goes after Arwyn but was blocked, only to jump into the Cloak of Shadows himself. However the Cloak of Shadows immediately dissipates at the start of the next turn.
Susana, almost out of spells comes out of the shadows and around the pillar to stick Tulsi with a dagger, but the Berserker saw it coming and blocked the attack. The Raptor runs around a pillar to attack Torok, but his :skull: was blocked. The Dwarf tripped, rolling :roll1: :roll1:, unable to reach anyone but Alpha, who was using the now dissolved Cloak of Shadows, but he flopped the attack. Tulsi takes a risk and uses 2 Body Points of Enrage to attack Susana Stormborn, bringing herself down to 3 Body Points. However, in attacking she connected with 3 :skull:s, eliminating the Wizard from the contest! She had yet to use the Genie spell and was saving that.
Arwyn drinks her healing potion from the trophy, fails to land a hit on Kubo and retreats, feeling her insides burn and she drops back down to 2 Body Points.
Kubo takes a shot at Torok, which was blocked, so Kubo runs behind a pillar, hoping to regain his techniques.

Torok rolls triple :blackshield:s when attacking the Druid/Raptor, but he utilizes his movement to get inside Kubo's field of vision.
Gimli gets surrounded by Alpha, Socrates and Tulsi, blocking the attacks from the former 2 with his back against the wall. Taking his best shot he lands 2 hits on Alpha, finishing off the Elf, who is eliminated before casting Hypnotic Blaze. With the chain of surrounding enemies broken he runs beside Arwyn for aid.
Tulsi decides to go after Arwyn and take her down to 1 Body Point. She fails her attack on the Berserker.
Kubo decides to face off with the Barbarian but his attack was blocked.

Torok flops his attack, but the Raptor comes over and cashes in his double :skull: trophy, bringing Torok down to 1 Body Point. He immediately drinks a Potion of Healing for 2 Body Points.
The Dwarf aids Arwyn and adds another body point of damage onto Tulsi, who is down to 2 Body Points, but she uses her Retaliation skill to bring 1 hit back onto Gimli. Tulsi than activates her Frenzy skill to attack both Arwyn and Gimli, landing 3 :skull:s on Arwyn, eliminating her from the match and 1 hit on Gimli, taking him down to 3BP.
Kubo flops.

Torok knocks Shapeshift off the Druid for 1BP of damage.
Socrates decides to run off and cast Lifeforce on Tulsi, bringing her back to 6BP. She also blocks the Dwarf's attack, as he did hers.

Kubo and Torok go at it while Tulsi and Socrates team against Gimli. The next hit comes from Gimli, landing 2 :skull:s against Socrates.
In the next round of turns Gimli hits Tulsi for 1BP.

Throughout the next flurry of attacks Kubo manages to bring Torok down to 1BP. Tulsi had also rolled 2 :skull:s, but Gimli had good defense with 2 :whiteshield:.
Nobody takes damage on the next round of attacks.

Torok is able to bring Kubo down to 1Body Point, Socrates fails to roll a :skull:, but blocks Gimli's attack. However, Tulsi gets a strong 3 :skull: hit on Gimli, taking him out of the match. Kubo also rolled double :skull:s and eliminates the Barbarian.

The Druid, Berserker & Monk get the win with plenty of body points left over.
The Monk uses his Twisting Torrent technique to avoid damage from the trapped chest and randomly draws the Orc's Bane artifact, which is just a Short Sword, but will grant a double attack against the Bard. He gives this to Socrates for the next match. Tulsi takes a body point of damage during the search and draws the Lightning Bolt spell scroll. We have a strong team heading into Round 2.

Robert 'the Bruce' captures an opening and takes out Indiana with a swing of his Shortsword.
Thoros is all out of helpful spells and has to resort to melee. This, obviously, doesn't work out as the Knight and Saverfeng/Druid take him down to 0BP.
