Boss Battles!

Nyashak is the soul survivor of her Lair of the Warcaster faction, defeating the monsters of the Crowning in her first round match and Gruulob's remaining forces in round 2. Nyashak must go at it, but not entirely alone, still having 2 spells that could summon monsters to help her. Her Warcaster spells are Call Goblins, Call Orcs, Orc Berserk, Sharpen Blades, Shield of Protection & Spirit of Vengeance. She has 7 Movement, 5 Attack, 5 Defense, 5 Body & 7 Mind Points.

Qwindrak is no stranger to the ferocity of Orcs, defeating Grak and his group in the first round before going on to defeat the Elven Alchemist in round 2. In this Dragon form Qwindrak only has 4 body points, his two Abomination assistants have already been eliminated. He can also cast the 2 Dread Spells Lightning Bolt & Firestorm while also being able to cast Ball of Flame at will.

Nyashak vs Qwindrak

Nyashak is out first. As advantageous as it would be to call upon 2 Orcs and go after the Dragon on his next turn, many of Nyashak's spells effect Orcs, so in the interest of using those spells, she thought it best to call upon the Orcs now instead of later, but had the Orcs appear on opposite ends on the arena, unaware of where the Dragon would position itself. These are 2 Elite Orcs.
Qwindrak, the Dragon walks out of the gate, rather than flying and takes a look at the positioning of her opponents. The Dragon takes up position in a corner ant casts Lightning Bolt through 1 elite Orc & and Nyashak as well. Nyashak is down to 3 Body Points and weak from the Lightning strike. She casts Orc Berserk on the Elite Orc, who charges across the arena. But the Dragon is too far., ending his first turn. But the elite Orc finishes the charge across the arena and attacks Qwindrak with 3 :skull:s out of 4 attack dice. Despite having 5 defense dice Qwindrak rolled no :blackshield:s and takes 3 Body Points of damage, reduced to 1 Body Point.

Panicking that this might be the end and not having enough space to outrun the Elite Orc, Qwindrak prays to end Nyashak with Firestorm. This obviously kills the Elite Orc, but Nyashak rolls :roll6: :roll4:, now reduced to 1 Body Point as well, surviving the Firestorm. The Dragon flies to the other end of the arena, avoiding a direct attack from Nyashak.

Nyashak is quite confident, though. One hit away from defeating the Dragon she casts Spirit of Vengeance for :skull: :skull: :whiteshield: :skull:!
Unbelievably Qwindrak rolls 3 :blackshield:s, blocking all hits from the spirit!
Nyashak is dumbfounded that her spell did not work as a Fireball rages across the arena directly at her, rolling :roll3: :roll2:. Nyashak burns up in an amazing turn of events. Qwindrak survives the 3rd round.

Balur is the sole survivor of his team as all undead and greenskins have been killed. The Fire defeated the Bloomrot Scion & Kessandria's forces in the two prior rounds, but now must face his most powerful opponent, the Witch Lord. This puts the Fire Mage at huge disadvantage as this iteration Witch Lord (Return to Barok Tor) is immune to all spells including his patented Ball of Flame, whereas Balur is only immune to fire spells. Balur also has the spells Escape, Fear, Firestorm, Summon Orcs & Tempest. He isn't a skilled fighter, though, with 8 Movement, 2 attack dice, 5 defense, 3 Body and 7 mind points.

The Witch Lord could be looking for vengeance in this round as his opponent defeated the Witch Lord's companion, Kessandria. The Witch Lord defeated some thugs from the Frozen Horror's Rescue mission from the first round. In the 2nd Round the Witch Lord triumphed over the remnants of Zargon's Flame. He has an astounding 10 Movement, 5 Attack, 6 Defense, 4 Body and an irrelevant 6 Mind Points. He has the 5 Dread Spells Ball of Flame, Command, Fear (which me can cast twice), Summon Undead & Tempest.

Balur is out first and having studied the Witch Lord is aware of how fast he is, so the Fire Mage backs himself into a corner, hoping the Witch Lord won't reach him.

The opposing gate opens and the Witch Lord glides out, only 2 spaces short of reaching the Fire Mage. He casts Tempest and goes in for the kill. Despite having 5 attack dice the Witch Lord only rolls 1 :skull:, which Balur is able to block.
His spells can't harm the Witch Lord and 2 attack dice probably won't land hard, so he runs from the Witch Lord and casts Summon Orcs, rolling :roll3:, producing 4 Orcs that appear around him only to charge and surround the Witch Lord. They strike hard and fierce, but the Witch Lord tries to put up a defence. The Orc with the Axe lands 2 hits while the one with the mace hits him for 1.
The Witch Lord, now I'm a precarious position is surrounded and can't move. Killing 1cand running would guarantee that at least 2 could attack him, so he casts Summon Undead, rolling a :roll4:, spawning 3 Skeletons & 2 Zombies. They now surround the Orcs but only manage to kill 2 and hit Balur for 1 Body Point.

The Fire Mage flees the undead, casting Ball of Flame, burning a Zombie to death. The Orc with the Axe was able to get 1 final hit on the Witch Lord, forcing him to vanish in a puff of smoke. The other Orc flopped when attacking a Skeleton.
The undead retaliate and slaughter the Orcs, but are too far to reach the Fire Mage.
Having lost all of his team, it's deemed safe to cast Firestorm, setting the arena ablaze and destroying all the undead. Balur had done the improbable and survives the 3rd round.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » March 4th, 2026, 6:34 pm

Magrian defeated the Keeper in the first round and Jrackfost & a Yeti in the 2nd round. She has the 4 spells Channel Dread, Dreadlights, Fear & Summon Specters. Magrian is incaporeal and can only be harmed by a roll of a :blackshield:. She also has the 4 special abilities: Consume Magic, Reflect, Shift Reality & Terror. She'll likely need them for this match.

Sinestra succeeded through the first two rounds against 2 former heroes, now undead servants of Zargon in Kelvinos and Voldrung. She had list all members of her team, but regained a Giant Wolf in the last round. Sinestra's stats are 8 Movement, 4 Attack, 4 Defense, 4 Body & 9 Mind Points. She can cast 8 spells: Dispel, Firestorm, Mind Blast, Mirror Magic, Reanimation, Restore Dread, Summon Wolves & Werewolf Curse. She will be allowed to use the Summon Wolves spell after her Giant Wolf is killed as Magrian may cast Summon Specters.

Magrian vs Sinestra & Giant Wolf

Magrian is out first, waiting for her opponents.

Sinestra comes out and immediately casts Mind Blast on Magrian while the Giant Wolf storms out for the attack. Rolling 5 :skull:s and 1 :whiteshield: has no effect as Magrian is incaporeal.

Magrian uses her Shift Reality ability and casts Summon Specters, rolling :roll5:, spawning 2 new Specters on her team. She also rolls :roll2: :roll3: :roll5: :roll5: :roll6:, to break the Mind Blast spell. For her turn she casts Fear on the Giant Wolf but Sinestra tries to counter using Dispel, which results in a mind battle, Magrian rolls :roll6: for a total of 11 while Sinestra rolls :roll4: for 13, cancelling the spell.
The Two Specters appear besides Magrian and the first casts Channel Dread on the Giant Wolf, rolling :roll2:, but gaining +2 for being adjacent to the other Specter and Dread Wraith. But Sinestra casts Mirror Magic, reflecting the spell back on the Giant Wolf, draining its life force, defeating 1 Specter. The Other Specter also casts Channel Dread, rolling a :roll2:, the spell has no effect. Magrian casts Dreadlights on the Giant Wolf, who immediately rolls a :roll6:, negating the spell.

Sinestra casts Werewolf Curse on the Specter, but a :roll6: is rolled, having no effect. The Giant Wolf pounces on the Specter, rolling 3 :blackshield:s, and killing it.
Magrian goes on the attack with 6 attack dice, rolling 3 :skull:s that the Wolf fails to block. Sinestra joins her pet wolf as they both attempt to lands hits on Magrian. Both managed 1 :blackshield:, but Magrian blocked them both.

Magrian goes back on the attack against the Giant Wolf, rolling 3 :skull:s again. The Giant Wolf only blocks 1, the rest were enough to kill the Giant Wolf.

Sinestra backs away and casts Summon Wolves, rolling a :roll6:, bringing 3 Giant Wolves into the Arena. All 3 wolves violently attacked the Dread Wraith, rolling no :blackshield:s!
Magrian attacks 1, landing 2 :skull:s.
Sinestra joins her 3 wolves in attacking Magrian. One fails to roll a :blackshield:, another rolls 3 :blackshield:s, Magrian only blocks 1, but uses her Reflection ability to apply the damage to Sinestra. The 3rd Giant Wolf rolled 2 :blackshield:s but she blocked 1, taking 1 damage. Sinestra fails to roll a :blackshield:.

Magrian makes a horrible attack, only rolling 1 :skull:, but it still lands against a Giant Wolf. She uses her Terror ability on a Giant Wolf, the two other attack her, one fails to roll a :blackshield:, the other lands 2 :blackshield:s on Magrian, taking her down to 2 Body Points. Sinestra rolls a :blackshield: that was blocked.
The Dread Wraith rolls 4 :skull:s on its attack and takes out the Giant Wolf.

The two Giant Wolves keep on Magrian, trying a :blackshield:. One finally rolls 2 :blackshield:s, but Magrian blocks 1, down to 1 Body Points, Sinestra fails to get a hit.
Magrian rolls a 5 :skull: hit on her next turn, taking a Giant Wolf down to 1 Body, as it only blocked 1.

Sinestra casts Restore Dread on the Giant Wolf, but Magrian uses her consume Magic ability to cancel that spell and reclaim 2 Body Points. The Giant Wolves maintain their attack on Magrian, failing to get a hit in.

Magrian finishes off the wounded Giant Wolf.
Sinestra and the Giant Wolf try to land a hit, only the Giant Wolf was successful in landing 1 hit against Magrian.
Magrian rolls 4 :skull:s in her attack, the Giant Wolf takes 3 damage.
Sinestra and the Wolf fail to land any hits.
Magrian casts Channel Dread on Sinestra, rolling a :roll4:, taking her down to 1 Body Point.
The Giant Wolf manages 2 :blackshield:, but Magrian produced 3 of them on a black. Sinestra rolled 4 :whiteshield:s.

Magrian finishes off the Giant Wolf with 3 :skull:s.
Sinestra, having lost all her allies, uses her most effective spell: Firestorm, Magical fire able to consume Magrian. The Dread Wraith rolled :roll2: & :roll1:, taking 3 Body Points of damage from the mystical flame, and giving a hard fought win to Sinestra.

Re: HeroQuest Blood Sport!!!

Postby wallydubbs » March 5th, 2026, 10:30 pm

Gragor and the Dread Warrior guarding him lasted through the first two rounds defeating Verag and his followers, as well as Skulmar and the remnants of the Forgotten Legion. Gragor has the spells Ball of Flame, Fear Lightning Bolt, Rust & Summon Orcs. However Gragor's spells seem powerful enough where he shouldn't need Summon Orcs, as these teams are very close on points. If things start looking unfairly bleak I may allow him to use it.

Festral has survived this far along with only 1 of his Elite Guard. They survive the first round against Abraxus and his followers as well as cleverly defeating the Elven Necromancer, Tormuk by using his own Giant Wolf against him. Festral has 6 Movement, 4 Attack, 5 Defense, 3 Body & 8 Mind Points, one of the very few Dread Sorcerers that could rival Sinestra in Mind Points. He has 3 Dominate spells, 3 Mind Burst Spells and 3 Mind Lock spells.

Gragor and his Dread Warrior split the arena when running out of the gate, keeping enough distance where Festral's Dominate spell can't cause them to immediately attack each other.

When the other gate opens Festral's elite Dread Warrior charges across the arena to go after Gragor but he can't reach him. Festral calmly walks out and stares at the Dread Warrior, going 1 on 1 for Mind Points. Festral rolls 5 :skull:s while the Dread Warrior fails to roll 1. His mind shuts down and the Dread Warrior goes into shock, reducing his movement to 3, his attack dice to 1 and defense dice to 2... I'm almost willing to grant Gragor the Summon Orcs Spell.

Gragor opts to not use the Summon Orcs Spell just yet, but casts Rust on the Elite Dread Warrior's weapon, reducing him to 1 attack dice! Gragor runs to the other side of the arena, aware that the Dread Warrior could still target him, but he should be able to line him up with Festral, intending to use Lightning Bolt on his next turn.

The elite Dread Warrior slams a mailed fist against Gragor for 1 Body Point of damage. Festral follows up by casting Dominate on the brainless Dread Warrior, who turns back to his Master and reigns down a heavy blow with his mace, rolling 3 :skull:s! Gragor only rolls 1 :blackshield:, which was enough to finish him off.

The Dread Warrior realizes what he's done but is still only semiconscious. When he tries to attack the Elite Dread Warrior it was easily blocked.

Festral decides to attack the Dread Warrior in shock and rolls 2 :skull:s, but the Dread Warrior actually produced 1 :blackshield:, only taking 1 Body Point of damage. The elite Dread Warrior misses his attack.
The Dread Warrior feebly swings his mace at Festral, missing completely.

Festral casts Mind Lock on the brain-dead Dread Warrior, as he's unable to move, attack or defend for 3 turns.
Festral and his Elite Dread Warrior attack for a once in a lifetime roll of 5 :blackshield:s (4 from Festral, 1 for the elite Dread Warrior)! Such a shame it was wasted on an attack.

The Dread Warrior's mind is still locked into place. Festral and the Elite Dread Warrior take turns cutting and punching him down without mercy. Festral and his elite Dread Warrior advanced to the next round.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » March 8th, 2026, 6:34 pm

The Witch Lord toppled the Eerie of the Storm Master in the first round, losing most of his allies in the process. Only a member of the Doomguard survived, advancing to the 2nd Round with his master, they took out Buubhealxea and the remnants of her forces. The Witch Lord has 10 Movement, 5 Attack, 6 Defense, 4 Body & 5 Mind points, though the Mind Points are irrelevant as he's immune to most spells. He may cast the following Dread Spells: Command, Fear, Firestorm, Lightning Bolt, Summon Undead & Tempest. He will be allowed to cast Summon Undead as the Frozen Horror team is leading by several points.

The Frozen Horror and his team defeated Gretzl and her monsters from Jungles of Delthrak, having lost 2 Dread Warriors and a Polar Warbear. They faced Fellmarak and his forces in Round 2, losing a Yeti in that fight and is now ready for Round 3. The Frozen Horror has 12 spells at his disposal: Chill, Cloud of Dread, Command, Fear, Ice Storm, Ice Wall, Mind Freeze, Rust, Skate, Sleep, Soothe & Tempest.

Witch Lord & 1 Doomguard vs Frozen Horror, 1 Polar Warbear & 1 Yeti

The Witch Lord and Doomguard are out first, since he has several spells he'd like to use in battle he casts Summon Undead, rolling a :roll5:, spawning 2 Mummies and 2 Zombies to surround and protect him.

Frozen Horror casts Skate on Polar Warbear, who glides out of the gate and across the arena. He can't get to the Witch Lord with all the undead surrounding him, so begins to smash away at the undead and takes out a Zombie, also wounding a Mummy for 1 Body Point.

The Undead swarm the Polar Warbear, taking him down to 3 Body Points, allowing the Witch Lord to get away, he moves swiftly across the arena, casting Lightning Bolt through the Yeti and Frozen Horror for 2 Body Points of damage each. The Doomguard than went after the Yeti, rolling 3 :skull:s. The Yeti failed to block, taking it down to 0 Body Points.

The Polar Warbear destroys 2 Mummies and flees out of range from the Zombie. Frozen Horror casts Command over the Doom guard, who resisted the spell. The Frozen Horror moves back to regroup with the Polar Warbear.

Witch Lord moves to a better vantage point and casts Command over the Polar Warbear, who succumbs to the spell. The Polar Warbear attacks the Frozen Horror, bashing away, taking it's master down to 1 Body Point. The Doomguard had just enough space to reach the Frozen Horror and only rolls 1 :skull:, but the Frozen Horror manages to block it. The remaining Zombie has nowhere to attack, so walks slowly towards the Polar Warbear.

The Frozen Horror cast Cloud of Dread, taking hold over both the Polar Warbear, who was still under the Command spell, and Doomguard. Both are paralyzed.

The Witch Lord sees his Doomguard is unable to defend and therefore casts Fear on the Frozen Horror to protect his Doomguard. The Cloud of Dread holds over both the Doomguard and Polar Warbear, but so does Fear. So rather than attack for 1 attack dice the Frozen Horror runs away and and encloses the Doomguard and Polar Warbear behind an Ice Wall. The Polar Warbear than breaks free from the Cloud of Dread Spell, but the Command spell keeps hold over him. The Witch Lord directs him to attack the Ice Wall, dealing 4 damage on it.

The Dread Warrior is unable to break the Cloud of Dread Spell, rolling :roll5: :roll4: :roll2:. The Zombie fails to break any of the Ice. The Witch Lord can't reach the Frozen Horror, so decides to attack the Ice Wall, but flopping on the attack.
The Frozen Horror breaks the Fear spell and casts Soothe on himself, healing for 3 Body points. The Polar Warbear, failed to break the Command Spell and smashed through the Ice Wall.
The Dread Warrior failed to break free from the Cloud of Dread Spell, but the Witch Lord went after the Frozen Horror, rolling 3 :skull:s in his attack that the Frozen Horror failed to block, dropping back down to 1 Body Point. The Witch Lord calls over the Zombie, but he can't make it to the Frozen Horror.

The Frozen Horror attacks the Witch Lord, landing 3 hits, taking the Witch Lord down to 1 Body Point. The Frozen Horror ran away from the Polar Warbear, who rolled :roll3: :roll3:, failing to break the Command spell. The Polar Warbear couldn't reach the Frozen Horror.
The Witch Lord casts Tempest over the Frozen Horror, the Zombie reaches him and throws a 2 :skull: attack, but the Frozen Horror rolled 3 :blackshield:s in defence. The Dread Warrior finally breaks free from the paralysis, but it too far to attack anyone.
Again the Polar Warbear fails to break the Command Spell and goes after it's Master, who is under Tempest. On his 2nd attack he kills the Frozen Horror.
The Witch Lord and his Zombie finish off the Polar Warbear, who was never able to break free from the Command spell. The Witch Lord wins with his Doomguard and a Zombie.

Boss Battles! Quarterfinal Round

Postby wallydubbs » March 9th, 2026, 5:48 pm

The Tower of the High Mage's team is reduced but to a single Gargoyle. Having lost his master against Gruzbella, the Gargoyle carried on to defeat a Magus Guard in singles combat.

The Death Knight, Kedrick Gilbane is the only survivor of his team from Round 1, where he defeated the nameless sorcerer from the Archives of Aborenis. In the next 2 rounds Gilbane defeated the Guardian of Grin's Crag, and Vilor. His stats are 7 Movement, 5 Attack, 5 Defense, 4 Body & 4 Mind. He knows the following Dread Spells: Cloud of Dread, Command, Fear & Firestorm.

The Gargoyle comes out of the gate first, ready for a fight.

Kedrick Gilbane comes out looking remarkably confident, though he can't reach the Gargoyle he casts Fear on the winged monster.

The Gargoyle rolls :roll6: :roll5: :roll2: :roll6:, voiding the Fear spell. With the utmost courage the Gargoyle charges Gilbane, tackling him before he can get a shield up, rolling a perfect 4 :skull: attack!
Gilbane fails to roll a single a :blackshield:, which is all he needed to save his life. The Gargoyle gouges Gilbane's eyes out and rips off the front part of his skull. This surprising turn of events sends the Gargoyle into the semi-final round, still representing the High Mage from Wizards of Morcar.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » March 10th, 2026, 8:50 pm

Bellthor, Melar & Fanrax all fell in battle against Nelath. The Spirit Queen has fought each round on her own with no enemy monsters backing her up. She has 7 Movement, 4 Attack, 4 Defense, 6 Body & 3 Mind. However her mind points can be reduced if her opponent chooses to talk her out of her mental fog by rolling a :whiteshield: instead of attacking. She knows the Dread Spells Command, Fear Firestorm & Lightning Bolt and may cast 2 spells at once if she so chooses.

All other iterations of Qwindrak has been defeated, but his 4 Body Point Dragon from The Oracle of Morlenis. Having lost his 2 Abomination assistants. Having defeated Grak's forces in the first round, the Elven Alchemist is round 2 and Nyashak in the third round. He knows the spells Lightning Bolt & Firestorm, but may also cast Ball of Flame at will. Nelath has the advantage as two of her spells combined has the potential to take out Qwindrak.

Nelath vs Qwindrak

Nelath is out first, awaiting her opponent.

Qwindrak flies out and sets the arena ablaze with Firestorm.
Nelath rolls a :roll4: & :roll5:, taking 2 damage from the magical fire.

Nelath casts Lightning Bolt and Fear on the Dragon, taking away half his body points.
Qwindrak easily breaks the Fear, knowing Nelath could finish him off with Firestorm on her next turn. Lightning Bolt would only certify 2 body points from her, but as she is down to 4 Body Points, Qwindrak could potentially kill with 5 attack dice. Going for broke he flies after her and rolls an attack for 3 :skull:s. Nelath fails to roll a :blackshield: and is down to 1 Body Point.

Nelath casts her own Firestorm spell. Qwindrak rolls :roll6: :roll4:, almost saving himself but just falling short. He burns up with the Magical Fire, the Spirit Queen takes another win.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » March 11th, 2026, 3:19 pm

Balur had lost all members of his team, so he'll be going at it not so alone. Having defeated the Bloomrot Scion through controversial means and going on to beat both the Witch Queen and Witch Lord in the following 2 rounds. The Fire Mage has been a survivor thus far. As a recap he has 8 Movement, 2 Attack, 5 Defense, 3 Body & 7 Mind. He has 6 Dread Spells: Ball of Flame, Escape, Fear, Firestorm, Summon Orcs & Tempest.

Sinestra lost all members of her team as well, as she defeated Kelvinos, Voldrung & Magrian. Most of her stats outrank the Fire Mage with 8 Movement, 4 Attack, 4 Defense, 4 Body & 9 Mind. She also has 7 spells (actually 8, but she has no use for Reanimation): Dispel, Firestorm, Mind Blast, Mirror Magic, Restore Dread, Summon Wolves & Werewolf Curse.

Balur the Fire Mage vs Sinestra the Elven Archimage

Balur is out first but uses no spells and takes to the corner of the arena.

Sinestra walks out of the opposing gate and casts Summon Wolves, rolling a :roll6:, spawning 3 Giant Wolves. They charge across the arena, but only 1 makes distance to attack Balur. It only rolled 2 :skull:s in the attack, the Fire Mage was able to block 1. The other 2 wolves were 1 space away.
The Fire Mage maneuvers around the wolves and casts Summon Orcs, rolling a :roll4:, spawning 5 Orcs onto his team. 2 Orcs attacked 1 Giant Wolf, 3 attacked the other. One Wolf dropped to 2 Body splints, the other was down to 1.

The Giant Wolves fight back, each taking out an Orc, leaving Balur with only 2 allies. Sinestra casts Restore Dread on the Giant with 1 Body Point, completely healing it.
Balur runs from the wolves and casts Fear on the recently healed Giant Wolf, but Sinestra casts Dispel to void the spell. The battle with Mind Points as Sinestra rolls :roll3: and Balur rolls :roll5:, 12 to 12, the spell goes through and Fear takes hold on the Giant Wolf. The two remaining Orcs take out the wounded Giant Wolf.

The two Giant Wolves split up. One goes after an Orc, mauling it, the other rolls :roll6:, resisting the Fear spell and attacks the Fire Mage, only rolling 2 :skull:s. Balur blocks 1 and drops to 1 Body Point. Sinestra casts Werewolf Curse on the last Orc.
The last Orc does not turn but instead takes 2 Body Points from the Giant Wolf and runs away. Balur casts Escape, to get away from the Giant Wolf that just attacked him.

The Wolf darts back to the Orc fighting the other Giant Wolf. The Orc gets torn apart.
Balur comes out of the gate and casts Firestorm over the arena: Sinestra and both her Giant Wolves take 2 Body Points of damage, one has 3 Body Points left, the other has 1. Sinestra is left with 2.

The Giant Wolves wandered too far across the arena, giving Balur an extra turn to act as they backtracked. Sinestra cast Mind Blast on Balur.
Balur easily resists the spell and casts Ball of Flame on the Giant Wolf with 1 Body Point. Sinestra counters this with her Mirror Magic. The Giant Wolf takes no damage, but not does the Fire Mage as he is immune to fire spells.
The Giant Wolf DID catch up to Balur and mauled him for his last Body Point. Sinestra is victorious with 2 Giant Wolves still on her team.

Festral and his elite guard have passed through the first 3 rounds against Abraxus, Tormuk & Gragor. Only 1 of elite guards has made it this far. Festral has 6 Movement, 4 attack, 5 defense, 3 Body & 8 Mind. He can cast the Dominate, Mind Burst & Mind Lock spells 3 times.

The Witch Lord has lost most of his entourage, with only a member of the Doomguard remaining. They outlasted the Storm Lord, who took out the majority of his undead army, overpowered Buubhealxea, and defeated the Frozen Horror in thanks to an unbroken Command spell. The Witch Lord has 10 Movement, 5 Attack, 6 Defense, 4 Body and 5 Mind, which is irrelevant, since he is immune to most spells (Asides from Ball of Flame). The Witch Lord may cast Command, Fear, Firestorm, Lightning Bolt & Tempest. The match is too close to allow Summon Undead.

Festral and his elite guard are the first out of the gate and they take care to stay on opposite sides of the arena so the Witch Lord can't hit both with his Lightning Bolt.

The Witch Lord is out next and he targets Festral, casting Tempest over the Dread Sorcerer. The Doomguard and Zombie head over to Festral's guard, but can't reach him.

Festral is enveloped in a whirlwind while his guard moves to attack the Doomguard, but only rolls 1 :skull:, which the Doomguard easily blocks.
The Doomguard moves around his opponent, goes on the attack and only rolls 1 :skull:, but Festral's guard fails to block, taking 1 damage. The Zombie moves in to help, but fails to roll a :skull:. The Witch Lord casts Fear over Festral's bodyguard.

Festral comes too and runs across to put the Doomguard back in his line of sight and casts Mind Burst on the Doomguard. Festral rolled 4 :skull:s, the Doomguard only rolled 1, reducing him to 0 Mind Points, the Doomguard goes into shock, where he is reduced to 1 attack dice, 2 defense and 4 movement. Festral's guard rolls :roll5: :roll3: :roll2:, remaining under the Fear spell. Since he can't kill the Doomguard with 1 hit he tries for the Zombie, successfully rolling a :skull:, which the Zombie fails to block. Despite being afraid, he was brave enough to kill the Zombie.

The Witch Lord casts Command over his own braindead Doomguard, allowing him to take control and moving him against Festral with all 4 attack dice returned. Unfortunately, he only rolled 1 :skull:, which Festral blocked.
Festral overlapped the unbreakable Command spell over the Doomguard with Mind Lock, forcing him to lose 5 turns before the Witch Lord could resume control over him. Festral's bodyguard rolled :roll1: :roll1: :roll3:, unable to break the Fear spell. He only rolled a :blackshield: on his attack.

The Doomguard was locked into place and the Witch Lord moved so quickly down the arena, lining up the Doomguard, Festral & his Bodyguard. He couldn't help the Doomguard at this point and sent a Lightning Bolt through all 3 of them, killing Festral's Body Guard and taking the Doomguard and Festral down to 1 Body Point.
Festral COULD have easily finished off the Doomguard, who had to wait for more turns, but as he only had 6 movement the Witch Lord could easily catch up to him and attack on his next turn. Festral had just enough movement to go around the Mind Locked Doomguard and attack the Witch Lord, hoping to finish him off in 1 attack. But he only managed 3 :skull:s, the Witch Lord blocked 1 and sent out a devastating attack of his own with 4 :skull:s. Festral only blocked 2 and burst into a rainment of blood.

The Witch Lord wins, and surprisingly, his Doomguard survived too.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » March 13th, 2026, 10:56 pm

Although still carrying the banner for the High Mage, this Gargoyle is a survivor. After defeating the Magus Guard and Kedrick Gilbane in an upset, he earned his way into the semi-final round.

Nelath has advanced though the first 4 rounds all by herself and continues to impress. She's beaten Gargoyles before I the form of Bellthor, took out a Necromancer and even a Dragon. This may not be her most difficult battle, but to give the Gargoyle a fighting chance he'll be allowed to make both a Physical attack and verbal attack on his turn and Nelath won't be able to use the Firestorm spell.

The Gargoyle is out first and takes up refuge behind a pillar, so Nelath won't be able to immediately target him for a spell.

Nelath comes out of the opposing gate and calmly walks towards the Pillar.
The Gargoyle circles the pillar, coming out on the other side and attacking Nelath with 3 :skull:s in his attack and a :whiteshield: through words. Nelath DID roll 2 :blackshield:s in defense, only taking 1 damage in Body and 1 Damage in mind.

Nelath casts Fear & Lightning Bolt on the Gargoyle, dealing 2 damage from her spell.
The Gargoyle rolls :roll4: :roll4: :roll5: :roll6:, breaking the Fear spell. But on his attack he only rolls 1:skull: on the physical attack and 1 :skull: through verbal confrontation. Nelath rolled a :blackshield:, taking no damage. The Gargoyle fled after the attack but Nelath was able to catch him, rolling 2 :skull:s in her physical attack. The Gargoyle failed to roll a :blackshield:, ending the High Mage's reign. Nelath advances.
