[Poll] Morcar vs Zargon : fight !

Generally a change of name would be a product of copyright issue. Perhaps Morcar was taken in the U.S.

Zargon sounds like the name of a Flash Gordon villain or the home planet of some friendly 80's alien.

I'm unearthing this topic, It's strange that the last post was made in 2017.

I think depending of the pronunciation of your language , you will prefer one or the other.

Morcar is pronunced 'More car' and has a sinister and dreadful feeling to it.

Zargon is pronunced Zarh -Gone / Zarh - Goon, not bad but, but less impactful than Morcar.

I wonder why they used two different names for that character.

Morcar is the name of a historical figure from European history (no resemblance) and also was a different character (spelled Morkar) in Warhammer Fantasy (he was a Chaos Warrior and lived in the world era, but still a bad guy), while Zargon has a long history of being used in fantasy fiction/games, and could be confused with the historical semi-legendary ruler Sargon of Akkad. Both sound like generic bad guy wizardy names. The choice is really a matter of nostalgia. I grew up with the bad guy GM being Zargon, so that's what I go with (and in my mind he's still the evil santa in red depicted on the GM screen).
