I don't want to fight. I just want to enjoy the pbp games I'm involved in, finish my custom content, read/steal other peoples stuff and enjoy the creation process. If people want to have a go and continue something they claim to be sick of or go out of their way to find fault then I'll respond.

Ok, good. I conclude from this, that so long as nobody points fingers at you for whatever or aggravates/attacks you directly/personally from now on, you'll stop with the attacks on people as well. I hope we can hold you to that.

Has anyone ever thought about how the HeroQuesters divide between Europe and America? I would not count Australia because you lot are still a minor ;) Then again... Does the Australian version have Morcar or Zargon?

The US version could have been awesome, depussyfied monsters, chaos spells, scrolls, more quest treasures but they ruined it by changing the spells, removing equipment cards, allowing all the heroes to use spell scrolls and giving the evil wizard a stupid name.

Edit:
Also allowing potions to be drunk after death is very silly. The did sort out the disarming rule to be fair though.

This gives me an idea. viewtopic.php?f=143&t=3430

I wouldn't say it was "ruined" by the points you make, but on those issues I would say the following:
Changed spells - Not really a biggie, but I agree that I mostly prefer the UK versions where they differ, and so I just use those anyway e.g. Fire of wrath doesn't need LOS (See 'Fellowship of the Four' novel for confirmation of this fact).
No Equipment cards - matter of taste really. I like and prefer the armoury.
All Heroes may use scrolls - The big issue here is that the US version introduced them. The fact that anyone can use them is fairly irrelevant in my opinion. I think people would have been miffed if these great new scrolls were of limited use. That said, we always give all the scrolls to the Wizard anyway. What is the point of wasting a 3/4 dice Hero attack to cast a ball of Flame, that a Wizard, with a useless 1/2 dice attack could cast.
Stupid EW name - Again, a personal choice, but it's purely cosmetic anyway.
Healing Potions on death - I like it, and it was the same in the UK version. "Any time" means just that.

Australian version is Morcar.

I havent seen a great deal of the NA version, but I do enjoy slightly stronger monsters.
I like equipment cards, but an armoury is a good thing also. Easier to update cards than the armoury though.
Would have liked scrolls in our version. Why I have added them in to my game. I did put a min 3 MP to use, as they are magical in nature and the user needs some mental capability.
A Barbarian with the Tome of Lore could use a scroll. My players can purchase scrolls (still working on spell levels) to carry with them, to supplement spells. Especially with how I do my monsters.
With drinking potions when you hit 0 BP: think about how heroes are seriously hurt, but manage to drag themselves to safety, or crawl to warn someone. Or drink a potion in their last moments of life.
A healing scroll on the other hand is a definite no-no.

My first reaction was that I definitely agree as a scroll takes an action to cast, but as scrolls are like spells, and the wizard can cast a healing spell to save himself from death if he has not performed an action, then I think maybe the same criteria should apply to healing scrolls if the person in possession of one has not performed an action?

I can't get behind that one. The scroll must be retrieved, unrolled, then read, in completion.
I can allow for a potion, or a homey hook-up from across the room if there is a spell caster with a heal. (this will tap the casters next action and only movement is possible.)
I can even see taping the power of a healing gem.

But not scrolls.

If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Word.
There's gotta be differences between regular spells and scrolls,
and the advantage of a genuine spellcaster with an innate ability must be pretty massive over some dude reading an excerpt of text aloud.
by the way, Micky, I blatantly stole that 3 (current) MP threshold idea and reworded my scroll icon key entry. Thanks for that.

Genie as well doesn't seem right as a LOS spell, for thematic reasons too.

The Admiral wrote:No Equipment cards - matter of taste really. I like and prefer the armoury.
I like that you can actually have the cards of what you've got but the downside is you can only have one per card.

The Admiral wrote:All Heroes may use scrolls - The big issue here is that the US version introduced them. The fact that anyone can use them is fairly irrelevant in my opinion. I just don't like the barbarian and dwarf using scrolls, it feels very wrong, especially the barbarian.

The Admiral wrote:Healing Potions on death - I like it, and it was the same in the UK version. "Any time" means just that.
No it wasn't. Any time obviously means any time that you're alive. If not you could use one five quests after you died. How can you drink something when you're dead? It's more complicated and it doesn't add anything to the game, it just makes it even harder for the EWP. I think if you could use them after death it would have specifically stated that.

MadMickyG wrote:A Barbarian with the Tome of Lore could use a scroll.
That works because there's a reason, the power is coming from the item. I thought about doing like that as well.

cynthialee wrote:I can even see taping the power of a healing gem.
That works, too because again, there's a reason for it. It's part of the power of the item.

knightkrawler wrote:by the way, Micky, I blatantly stole that 3 (current) MP threshold idea and reworded my scroll icon key entry. Thanks for that.
It works much better with the Euro talisman of lore, it raises MP by two so you can set the threshold to 4MP and the barbarian and dwarf can't cast spells without it but can with it.
