Copy right dates appear to conflict with "available for purchase" dates from advertisements for many of the products, so perhaps a copy right date/ release date format is needed.
Continental Europe, Australia and New Zealand release dates lag behind UK but have same copy right dates. Translated versions (Italian, French, German, etc. have different release dates, White Dwarf actually talks about needing translators for its games for various languages in later magazine issues than the initial HQ UK release dates and when some translated versions will be/were available in European countries.)
As Advanced HeroQuest literally shows the same HQ characters in much of its art (including the box cover!) and updated the stats for heroes (and their appearances in art in some instances), Games Workshop very much considered it a continuation of HeroQuest throughout the span of HQ/AHQ publications; only after the Milton Bradley collaboration ended (sometime in 1993 most likely) did they give up on that idea and revamp both HeroQuest game systems with their own Warhammer Quest that didn't have complicated intellectual property issues with Milton Bradley/Hasbro as it was all in house. Advanced Heroquest also includes a rules for using the HeroQuest game section, character cards for the HQ characters, and tables for Solo Play using Random Dungeon Table generator, including a special section for creating random dungeons on the Heroquest game board. It's ALL HeroQuest to GW (and me

). Someone needs to ask Stephen Baker exactly when and what the nature of those companies (GW and MB/Hasbro) separating and terminating their collaboration was and how it affected HeroQuest, it is more than germane to the development and release of many GW/MB collaborated games including HeroQuest, Battle Masters, Space Crusade, etc. It has long been speculated that the Barbarian Quest Pack and the Elf Quest Pack NA releases were made after Games Workshop ceased development involvement but still retained some copyrights, and possibly why the rest of the North American quest packs in development were cancelled, but it is speculation.

release date 1991? we know this was the third HQ supplement (UK/EU) produced, but when was it actually on shelves ready to be sold or ordered? White Dwarf 134 seems to show it had not yet actually been released by the WD cover date of February 1991 and it still had it's name in development as " HeroQuest Dungeon Design Kit" and wasn't finalized as HQ ADK yet. FOURTH OFFICIAL RELEASED HEROQUEST GAME PRODUCT

© 1990 HEROQUEST AGAINST THE OGRE HORDE(© 1990 copyright dates on ATOH box,© 1990 ATOH booklet, and © 1990 ATOH Tile Sheet) Actual Release Date ??? UK not released yet by February 1991 according to White Dwarf 134, also Marvel Winter Special says coming soon in 1992. Product clearly shown in 1991 ads. When was it actually released? What is the earliest unambiguous evidence of this product actually being available ? Who knows. Mine has ads for upcoming game day 1993 in the box, and 1992 HQ/ Space Crusade ads and GW mail order forms and envelopes. ATOH has evidence anywhere from 1990-1993. I believe it was actually released after Feb 1991 based on ads and WD but am seeking corroboration.

White Dwarf Magazine 153 page 16-32 Warhammer Fantasy Battles 4th edition boxed set preview (released in October 1992) 4th edition WHFB did away with Fimir, also the magic system went from elemental types used in HQ to different Lores and eight colleges of magic (including some used previously in AHQ), and the Old World and it's races and monsters became much more developed in many supplements and releases. all HeroQuest, Advanced HeroQuest, and Battlemasters release dates coincide with 3rd and 4th editions of Warhammer Fantasy Battles and are set in the same Old World setting. (we might be able to speculate release time from White Dwarf preview, HQ preview in July so perhaps Sept 1989? Advanced HQ preview in Oct. so perhaps released in Dec? Purely speculation...)
