Re: What's your favourite quest?

My favorite quest has got to be Melar's Maze for some reason...
I tweaked it when I played with my girlfriend, her 2 daughters and one of the boyfriends. I liked the concept of Melar's Key and wanted to do something better then just have it disappear. So I made the center room and the door that activates the gargoyle "Magically Sealed." The key will open only 1 Magically Sealed Door and disappear after it's used. One can be open with the key, the other needs a roll equal to or less then current mind points. Either way, the one that is opened without the key awakens the gargoyle.

In the way I play greenskins and the undead don't mix unless there's a necromancer mediating. So when i read the introduction to the heroes i informed them that Melar's maze has been guarded by undead for decades to prevent the Talisman from falling into the wrong hands.
The 3 orcs that are in this quest are looking for the Talisman of Lore as well.

The heroes started this quest out peeking down the long hallway before going into the Throne Room, where the Barbarian (played by daughter's boyfriend) found the key and thus opened the secret door, at witch point the Elf and Dwarf ran in and the orcs swarmed while the wizard stood in the doorway, poking with his staff.
Barbarian had no way of getting in there since the orcs moved in, so he went back to deal with the mummy that has been slowly making it's way down the hall. After he killed the mummy he ran into that adjacent room and fell into the pit trap, while Elf, Dwarf and Wizard finished off the orcs.
The wizard, by the way, was played by my girlfriend's 14 year old daughter, using Air, Earth and Darkness spells. (Elf had Fire).
My girlfriend (playing the Elf) went to the small room and fought the Zombie while the other heroes went into the room with the gargoyle, she searched for traps and treasure, but forgot to check for doors.
When I told the rest of the group that the gargoyle was paralyzed and no immediate threat to them the Wizard and Barbarian parked next to it, one on each side, and took a picture. Her 14 year-old daughter said "I'm going to name him Humphrey and he's my best friend!"
The dwarf (played by 17 year old daughter) went to open the next door, but I told her it was Magically sealed, you don't have the key. Her boyfriend had apparently figured it out, saying "You open that door and this gargoyle is going to come to life and kill us." Since he was adjacent, he passed the key to open the door. Both Dwarf and Wizard went in a triggered the pit and spear trap, so the the Wizard cast Cloak of Shadows to save them from the skeletons. Once this room was cleared and the Dwarf disarmed the chest, the heroes decided to split up; the Barbarian and Wizard would go down the long hallway while the Elf and Dwarf made way to the southern end of the board.
It was funny as everyone successfully jumped the pit trap to exit the room except the elf. As the Wizard and Barbarian made their way back to the long hallway the Wizard hesitated when she got to the pit trap the Barbarian sprung earlier and said "Not worth it", and just walked around. This hallway was never searched and the Wizard sprung the Falling Block Trap, which killed her... but she still had an action and the Heal Body spell, so she had to use it. She decided to push forward anyway and cast Pass Through Rock on the Barbarian so he can join her.
I also enjoyed the southern end of the board where the Dwarf and Elf asked "Why are there two doors going into the same room?" To which I replied "Why are there 2 doors going into the same room?" They figured one was a trap, luckily the elf chose the right door.

Anyway the heroes found their way to the central room at the same time and despite having already used the key the dwarf managed to open the door... and the gargoyle sprung to life.

It would take a few turns for it to make it's way to the central chamber, so I assumed the heroes would scramble to clear out the undead from that room. Surprisingly they decided to split up again, have the Barbarian backed by the Elf's fire spells clear out the undead, and the Wizard would go with the Dwarf, she still had her Genie spell.
They met the gargoyle in the southern hallway where the 14 year-old called out to the gargoyle, "Humphrey, we're not friends anymore!" And cast Chains of Darkness on it. The Dwarf then ran up with an attack with just a short sword that flopped. The gargoyle lost his next turn and the Wizard cast his Genie spell... only rolling 1 skull! The gargoyle had 5 defence and blocked it. Dwarf attacks again, gargoyle blocks. Gargoyle then mauls the Dwarf, taking him down to 1 Body Point. The Wizard tries to use Arrows of the Night, so the gargoyle will only defend with 4 (mind points), but he still rolls 2 black shields. The dwarf gives it another go rolling 2 skulls, and the gargoyle failed to block. But wait, the Dwarf had Heroic Brew, drank that and rolled double skulls again, again the gargoyle failed to block and was defeated.

Probably one of the funniest quests I've had.
