With just the two of you then it will become a bit of a challenge in some ways. I won't EWP without a minimum of 2 hero players.
With out the dynamic of two players or more, the heroes will never disagree on the path taken. There is less likelihood of the heroes splitting forces.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I play solo and EWP sometimes.

Or I have my 9yr old try to kill me while I run a single player through the standard quests with my Monk, or some of the cool single quests found inn here. But thats on my Bounty Hunter.

As I have EU version, plus only single player, most monsters are single BP. Its certainly less difficult, but isn't always guaranteed.
As has been mentioned, not difficult to play two characters. Or play one character, and use a player as a henchman (planning to makes some henchman cards for all my extra players)
Check out my dabblings in writing.

Thanks all. We've started with 4. Hopefully more players will dip in and out along the way. P.s. you've probably seen (or are responsible for) this but it made me laugh...

A fanboy on pirate mode--fun watch.

If you haven't gotten too far and expect no more players, you could try just two Heroes and allow two weapon attacks per Hero. Maybe allow a used healing potion card or two to be returned to the treasure deck as well. A pair of Heroes will gear up faster, so plan on mercenaries later or perhaps halve the gold-coin Quest teasure.

After years of being the EW, I have a pretty good eye for judging what group of Heroes (size and quality) can reasonably take on a certain quest. There are various methods for tweaking a quest to suit a party that is too small/large or weak/strong. Adding and subtracting monsters is one obvious choice.

If a party is too small, then one method might be to add in NPC's. I call these Special Henchmen in my quests. They are for all purposes a Hero in regards to Body and Mind Points i.e. add up to 10. Their only limitation is that they cannot search for treasure and may only be given potions to carry. They must keep the weapons and armour they start with and cannot gain or lose any of them. They are controlled by a Hero as he/she would a henchman. In a party of three with a Wizard for example, you might want to include a fighter NPC and have it controlled by the Wizard. In a party short of spellcaster you could add one. The theme of the quest will often direct you as to the sort of NPC you will meet. Perhaps you will meet them again some time in the future.

This method has allowed me to access the wealth of my figures range and get them to see some table time. I tailor their weapons and armour according to what their figure actually has. Perhaps give them a special skill to make them interesting.
