I heard somewhere that the US version of the game used mind points a lot more than in the UK version. If you run out of mind points, do you get knocked out??? Is there any potion that you can use/take to increase your mind points by 4/2points?????? :D

Both the Barbarian Quest Pack and the Elf Quest pack discuss what happens if a Hero runs out of Mind Points- he goes into shock. That means rolling just 1 red die for movement, attacking with just 1 attack die, and defending with just two combat dice. Certain spells or scrolls can temporarily increase those numbers, but weapons, armor, and artifacts don't. Like Body Points, Mind Points can't be reduced to less than zero.

Restoring lost Mind Points through the Alchemist's Shop is expensive. Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord gave us the Potion of Restoration. It returns 1 body Point and 1 Mind Point for 500 Gold Coins. The Elf Quest Pack introduced its own Potion of Restoration- it returns a Hero's Body Points and Mind Points to their starting value at the beginning of the Quest. It's a better "bargain" at 800 Gold Coins.

There's also the Elixir of Life from The Eastern Passage, Quest 7 of Kellar's Keep. It restores all lost Body Points and Mind Points. Of course, you gotta be dead to use it...

Potions are overpriced for Heroes until many, many Quests have been completed. If you wanted to use them, you'd need to find them as special treasure that was added in by the evil wizard, or they'd have to be re-priced.

I now return you to your previously high-jacked thread. :p

Another use for Mind Points I have found is that in some games played I have only allowed Heroes to take a search action for traps or secret doors in as many squares as they have Mind Points and the Player must point to the Game Master the squares they are scanning.
On top of that if the trap or secret door is one I consider to be well hidden then it is also a Mind roll to find it. (The trick is to always be rolling this dice grip regardless if there is something to find or not and the GM should roll this check behind the screen so as not to allert Players when they have failed a check.)
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
