Having only heard of there being a 25th Anniversary remake in the pipeline a day ago and seeing very little on the project, what I can say is this. The artwork I saw didn’t grab me and I immediately, like many others have stated, started to doubt that it would be any good. I also agree that there really isn’t a need for a remake at all, a re-release however... ;)

What I think would be a great release would be a ‘complete remake’ with all the expansions present and female characters for all 4 heroes. With an additional hero, three new monster types and an additional short campaign involving all the new additions.

This I feel would be a great release, keeping true to the original, giving lovers of the game the ability to play through the expansions they may not have, and also something a little fresh for everyone to enjoy. That would be the way I’d do HeroQuest 25th Anniversary.
Please PM me if any of my old links to files are currently down. I am in the process of hosting them somewhere new!

:)

I think I would do as others, adding all "special" monsters in. So old models with some tiny tiny twists and few new minis :)

As far as the KS campaign itself, not the game, here is how I'd have gone...
I'd have had the following:
1 Core Game (with stretch goals to add)
1 Kellar's Keep Equivalent Add-on (with stretch goals to add)
1 Return of the Witch King Equivalent Add-on (with stretch goals to add)

I think the other sets would be too complicated to put in from the start, but perhaps have "unlocks" at 500k, 750k, and 1M or something similar and start adding another add-on set (with associated stretches as well).

This way you give people reasons to add on expansions, and instead of it just being an add-on, you see that expansion get better and better as the KS gets more and more successful.

Absolutely. They had a great opportunity of making the coolest ks ever, and they botched it up.
Missed chance.
