In preparation for playing this expansion as Zargon I did 2 solo playthroughs of all quests.

I started with fresh heroes, splitting the party and playing not very optimzed (don't wait for others before opening new rooms, search for treasure). 2 heroes came through the first quest, and there was only 1 ogre. So I decided to give them the 5 artifacts. I kept splitting the party, but I skipped "bonus" rooms like the grave with the undead. Again only 2 survivors. So I decided not to not search for treasure anymore (not worth it with 2 chaos warrios and worse for wandering monster), and at least the 2 subgroups waited for the other hero before entering. 1 hero got through. So in quest 4 and 5 I kept the party together. 1 survivor in quest 4, TPK in quest 5 (Festral knocked the barbarian unconciuos, and the other 3 didn't get past the last 2 ogres even after some retries).

Then came the big finale, and I saw no way the heroes would survive this. I gave them all the gear and kept the party together, playing in a very optimized way. I failed in the boss room and replayed just the boss room, this time victorious.

The last quest with 3 orcs respawning each round and the whole board being revealed one room a turn by Zargon, I saw that the heroes are doomed if they don't take the direct path. So I took it right away and got confused about being allowed to attack from inside a pit of darkness and sleeping ogres blocking the way to other monsters or not, and if an ogre would voluntarily fall into a pit of darkness. I ended up with an ogre sleeping in a pit of darkness, and I decided that whatever the ruling should be here, I just kept the dwarf standing on the other side of the pod, blocking the horde:

Wizard and elf were already dead, and the barbarian didn't make it through.

Then I read this thread and found that I had totally forgotten about the 5 healing potions. So I relpayed all 7 quests "as a series", this time assuming the heroes had played all quests before as single missions and knew the maps. I also gave them all artifact and equipment cards. I played the standard tactic (gathering outside door, then rush in), and all went very smoothly. I did not replenish any mind or body points between the quests. I did not need any potions during the first 5 quests, the healing spells were enough. I used 4 potions in the final battle, and in quest 7 I escaped without problems (I ruled that the sleeping ogre blocked the monsters from coming after me. He did not wake up, else I would have used a pit of darkness to block them).

My feeling is that this quest pack is intented to be replayed. The heroes will take several tries to complete a quest, until they know the best path. And once they're experts at playing every quest, they can play all 7 quests as a series, saving their healing potions for the boss battle. So for me: Full BP between quests when played as single quests, no auto BP recovery between quests when played as a series, only the 5 healing potions.

About replenishing mind points: I would say that as single missions they start all quests fresh. But as a series they don't replenish mind points between quests. An unconscious hero is replaced. Heroes with lowered mind points have no real disadvantage. If Festral takes away some mind points, who cares? The heroes can skip Nexrael and Xenloth when playing as a series (or simply rush in and kill them quickly).
