Games order was posted somewhere around here; I asked that question already, not even a year ago yet...

Thanks.
Hopefully I can get started on the rules today.
I love the dice Idea too ;)

As far as where to start, a heroquest starting package as you call it:
On this sight you can find all the published games.
Start with the original system, then onto Kellar's Keep, then Return of the Witch Lord.
From there - I am not sure which expansion packs would played in what order...drathe
or Phoenix can help with that.
I would stick with just normal rules for now - don't mess with any of the house rules or
expanded rules found here quite yet. Give you and your gaming group a chance to get
used to everything before expanding the rules in any way. You'll be a lot happier with that.

tinfish - if you aren't really caught up on the dice having the skulls and shields...you can use regular six-sided dice.
Skull = 3, 4, 5
White Shield = 1, 2
Black Shield = 6

you can find the dice and cards on ebay now and then and if you are in need of furniture you can also find that on ebay separate from the main set. but if the price is to high just wait awhile and a new auction might come up that is cheaper and may have more stuff in it.

Thanks.

Dice are first concern, I lack the special dice needed. Where should I look for these?
I am thinking some paper prints glued to other dice, but i would buy them if i could.

I also lack access to a working colour printer, so my scenery will be sort of red, and glued to cardboard. Is there an alternative? D oes anyone sell this terrain?

Seemingly I would be looking at £140+ just to get started with Heroquest on Ebay etc, so I will instead proxy from my warhammer collection for heros and monsters, download the rules and cards.
This just leaves me without terrain and unique dice.

I would also like to know where I should start, main rules and cards are a given, but what else?
What is the heroquest starter pack?

to be honest I wouldn't mind paying for the game on Ebay, but nostalgia has a habit of disappointing, so I would rather try it first before considering a big layout.

Sigh, I used to have this and space hulk and space crusade and dark future, etc etc.
Why oh why did I throw it all out.

I was struck by nostalgia just the other night and wound up here.
I have no idea where to start, but i aim to grab the rules and give this old game a go.

Must have been 1 of the first board games i ever played, way back in my youth.
Nice to know I am not alone in wanting to keep the game alive :)

The last time I played Heroquest was under amiga emulation against some invulnerable skaven.

I will no doubt have many stupid questions to ask.
