That's the bummer when you own the game and want to play it as a player, and not the GM. Getting people to read all the rules, even when the rules are easy to read, can be difficult.

Luckily, I love running games.

i've brought the subject up a couple of times and they seem interested, but they are flakey to say the least!
its one of those things, where you can either get a few of them (but never all) or something comes up, besides at the moment i dont have my HQ with me (lame i know) so "zombies" has taken its place for a bit, i think what i really need is more nerdier friends like me, because acid testing them has become a bit of a chore! that and like i said i can only play with certain people to keep the story alive...
i kinda dont want to GM if i can help it, my barbarian side is getting a bit grouchy, but i guess i will have to for the first few times until someone has an idea or wants to take over...

Quite a story. Do you have no friends now who would like to get together from time to time for a fun game? If you are the DM you could make it more fun for them by putting more healing potions into the quests so that they are easier to survive; or else make house rules where the adventurer can be saved form death by a health potion given by his comrades - if they get to him in time!

hi guys

im tel fromthe uk

where to start?

i remember i was a kid at christmas and there was a large box for me under the tree and opening my copy of heroquest (i also got Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord with it :)
i was only about 7 and it was the best thing since sliced bread!
i forced everyone to play it with me and i mean everyone, to the point that they all got bored of me asking :(
it was my introduction to all things mythical and it has been one of my most loved possessions ever since, surviving teenage mutant ninja turtles and every other fad after it.
it got me into warhammer along with battle masters(also a GW-MB joint venture)
but because no-one would play it with me it soon got put under my bed for a very long sleep! many many years later after college i had an accident that ment i could no longer work where i was and needed to get a new job and endeded up working at a GW store.... it had its ups and downs and eventually i left but made many cool friends- whilst i worked there i was a store manager and would oftern refuse to play the games and only paint the models, because although i had people wanting to play games i found many of them fun spounges, killing the fun from the game for the win and leaving the story somewhere in question, and thats what i found was the bit i was lacking....the story, the drama!
many of my GW friends found HQ a bit antiquated so would rather play WHQ or something else...(ok i know i'm ramberling now)
after i left GW i was out for about 5 years then went back to uni.
then from nowhere i found myself staring at a copy of AHQ on ebay- next thing i knew i had won the bid and coincidently thats when i first appeared on here, but there was also a stark realisation that although i have owned the game for many years i have never played it properly!
so there it is, i'm a gamer with loads of models, both complete copys of HQ and AHQ but noone to play with! but at least i can talk about it again :D
