I've also enjoyed some of GW's skirmish experience, though Warhammer Fantasy. Not that some of those big battles weren't fun, just long. And Mordheim--YES! I haven't played that gem for several years, but what fun!

Glad you find HeroQuest so appealing. You definitely have found a game that will provide you design space. Looking forward to your posts!

Howdy all ^^

Was flicking through the various topics and happened upon this board specifically for making introduction posts, so hello !!
I'm Jager (or JLavender for my username), and I must admit, despite being relatively new to HQ, getting into it in 2025, i've fallen absolutely head over heals for the game system and especially the fan community online, I love the simplicity of the ruleset and at the same time, just how versatile and expandable it is with fan content;

I've been drafting my own simplified RPG/Dungeon Crawling system for a while now and I was so pleasantly surprised to find out that this pillar of the tabletop gaming scene is incredibly similar in terms of design language and values to what I was aiming for myself ^^ unfortunately for my own attempts at designing a system, i've very much satiated that desire for an easy pick up & play gaming experience w/ HeroQuest :D

A bit about myself; I got into the more broader tabletop gaming and hobby scene back in 2018 with 40k and gunpla, really fixating on the building and painting model aspect, mostly due to my dislike for 40k's ruleset, though found myself really drawn to experiences with smaller groups of protagonists, similar to what a D&D/Pathfinder party resembles, such as Killteam and Mordheim, I also found myself very much drawn to the setting of 'The Old World', I think these factors have all culminated in me falling in love with HQ too.

I also do a lot of digital work too, having learnt to design 3D models via Blender, and having a limited experience in game design throughout my life, ranging from things as simplistic as making LittleBigPlanet games to writing homebrew content for Pathfinder 1e for a group I played with for a few years. I enjoy a lot of different aspects of the creative process, and am excited to do so more within this community here :D

I'm based out of the West Midlands region in England, and travel to Birmingham for games a lot, so if you're in the area, please do shoot me a DM and we can get some games going ^^ I don't go every year, but I love attending UKGE also, so that may be another opportunity to meet up and talk hobby too.

I'll end this bloated introduction here for now, but please feel free to drop a reply or DM if you wish to know more, and i'll be happy to share what I can within reason, cheers all,

- Jager.
