Introducing my sons to HQ

Postby rkseverance » January 3rd, 2015, 6:24 pm

I was digging through a thrift store bin recently and discovered a nearly complete copy of Heroquest! My 8 and ten year old step sons seemed immensely interested in the miniatures and pieces, and started begging to play almost immediately. However, I was missing most of the spell cards and several artifacts. Then I discovered your awesome site! Thanks for giving me the opportuniy to unplug my kids from the digital world so I we could reconnect over some great nostalgic gaming!

YAY!!!

May you have many epic adventures!
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Congrats on the thrift store find. |_P

I play HeroQuest with my kids and sometimes a friend and his kids join us. It's been a lot of fun...and a great source of inside jokes.

Yeah I was stoked about it. I'm looking forward to using some of the tools on this site to create custom monsters with my own artwork. I think the personalization will give it unlimited replayability.

That's why we are all still here today!
Just don't forget to taste the vanilla before you jump to custom content. ;)

You'll probably want to create your own quests at one point. HeroScribe is the ultimate tool for making HQ maps. Highly recommended; it's really the only way to go.

Agreed. I've been putting together a lot of quest books and HeroScribe not only makes the maps look really nice, but its very easy to use.

It's actually a project of a long time member of our forum. There's a special topic for it here where he posts updates, and where we can post bug reports or suggestions.

It might have something to do with rkseverance's trip to the thrift shop ;)
