Yeah, the little vintage collection (aka black series) star wars figures are almost $20 each for a 3 to 4 inch figure.

Yeah good point. Fancy dice in a can with a folding box: $40. A little less fancy dice plus plastic minis plus tiles plus cards plus booklet $45...

My dice left the building, as well - I’m stoked! I’ll have unique dice for each person who plays (we often have more than five).

Honestly, I’m such an advocate for the game and any new content, I’d even spend money for yet another base game with new hero sculpts and a mediocre dragon miniature. Oh wait, I pre-ordered First Light…

Even First Light has a better price point. You also get 6 normal dices, the new heroes sculpts, the dragonzilla and a new campaign book with some new rules. And a new double sided board. For just the same price.
People can spend their money in what they want but it still a milking the colector/completitionist from Hasbro

We started our streaming playthrough of JoD tonight... Quest 1. The heroes didn't quite finish but there was a lot of extra time spent preparing for the new expansion. As with ROTDM there's a learning curve for Zargon but I made sure to study up so I wasn't flipping around quite so much (and yet we still did have to clarify a few things).

We started off with two heroes and two animal companions (I snuck in an Ogre Mercenary early on, didn't want all that "grog" they had stockpiled from the last campaign go to waste, and this is a hard one!). I am retaining the "Alchemy" rules from ROTDM as well (mixing those cards back into the treasure deck). Also using the HeroScape terrain pack I purchased at GenCon for decoration! Since I've got ATOH as well, I've got extra ranged monster minis to use too. ;)

Excellent! Many are sharing their images. I was gonna post Ribby's (I think he was first on youtube).

Sorry for my lateness (again, these are his, I don't have them):

PS: That box does resemble a record album (where is the "Jungles of Delthrak: OST" vinyl??)

I use to use dice trays in my games, however I don't like using them without plain schemes like this.

The background art makes more difficult the identification of dice roll results, especially if they are transparent.

Anyhow, the tray looks nice for collecting purposes, of course!

Yes, using the jungle dice would be difficult to see in this tray. I do like the colors though.

The dice have two colors added and the glitter. I'm not sure if that's a more complex (and therefore higher cost) process to create than just a single color (whether transparent or opaque).

Metal, faux leather, and synthetic cloth fibers... might be really expensive, but I'm guessing it has more to do with small batches, limited production runs, quality testing, and the expectation of what collectors will pay that are most responsible for the prices of these dice sets vs. the boxed expansions. Anyone in the industry feel free to debunk my theory, of course!
