Not at all good. I think it looks too good painted for a heroquest board. No no I can't approve. Also those potions look waaay to good.

Cheers, guys! :)

I am currently working on the weapon rack. Here's a look from relatively early during the painting process:

And a bit later, with all of the base colours in place:

There's also a part of the game that I didn't even think about for the longest time: The bases for the doors. Of course I simply cannot leave them in plastic grey, seeing how I am aiming for a completely painted set. So I think I'll be going for the same stoney look I have chosen for the bases on all of the hero and monster models:

As always, let me know what you think! And a happy Easter Sunday to all of you, of course! :)

Alright, one final update for today:

Here's the weapon rack after washes:

And the finished piece, photographed just a couple of minutes ago:

And while I was at it, I also took some proper pictures of the Alchemist's Bench:

So that's three more completed pieces of furniture all in all, with only the torture rack left to paint:

All things considered, I would call this a fairly productive weekend indeed! :)

I love those potions there in the alchemists table.

I don't like the weapons rack. It's not your fault, the painting is fine. The scale is way off.

The collection on the photo is just great!

Cheers, Anderas!

Yeah, some of those weapons are way too big to be wielded by any model in the HeroQuest box -- they really could have paid better attention to that ;)

That being said, I found the weapon rack a pretty enjoyable piece to work with, mostly because it provides the perfect excuse to work with different colours in order to make all those weapons look suitably interesting.

So, just one last piece of furniture left to go, and seeing how I am on a bit of a roll at the moment, I thought it might be a good idea to keep painting ;)

Now my torture rack was missing its handles (what a weird sentence to write down -- context is everything here, it seems ;) ), but I actually felt this was a perfect opportunity, because the look of those handles had bothered me for years. So I built a little something that I felt was more believable (and mechanically sound) with some leftover bits and bobs from my bitzbox:

And fortunately enough, everything came together rather nicely when I undercoated the piece:

Here's a WIP shot that should show you where this is going:

Aaaand DONE! Here's the finished torture rack:

As a tribute to the older "paintjob", I decided to place the bloodstains in almost exactly the same locations as before, only with a slightly more realistic look ;)

I'm guessing a matte varnish on most of the torture table, with a glossy varnish on the blood? It looks absolutely great and realistic!
