I just tried Nurgle's Rot (slime) and Blood for the Blood God. Both work well. Use after you seal because they have a gloss finish that would be dulled otherwise. They have a sort of transparency where thin and get darker when thick.

For priming,
Try not to do pffffffff.
Try to pft. Pft. Pft. Pft. Pft.

Takes some seconds longer, but the beginner's heavy finger isn't a problem anymore.
Plus you can do the first half of the artwork directly with the primer by putting very gently some white snow from the white can on top of the black layer. Put the white only very sparse, only from some top angles.

Your problem with your new old house, I know that one. Knocked me out of the hobby for one year now. This is why I do mostly digital stuff now: you can do that in half an hour before going to bed. Impossible with painting.
