Just painted my undead, see!

Postby Ethica » January 23rd, 2010, 6:36 am

Just finished my undead creatures. The skeletons and mummies were almost fun but the zombies were fiddly bitches, glad I only have 4 of them. Unfortunately someone cut the arm of one of my mummies and tried to paint the others with thick gloopy paint, grrr!

Nice! Three of my zombies look gross and rotting...but then my cousin painted one METAL and gave him a WOOD cleaver.

*sigh*.....

Wow! I wish I could paint mine that well. I am practicing so hopefully I will eventually be able to paint at least reasonably well :) Only time will tell.

a) did you wash them in weak detergent first (I failed to, and this might be why some of them chip)
b) did you apply primer?
c) did you apply lacquer?
d) did you drink at all during any point of this process?

I undercoated them with white acrylic (though I have used spray acrylic to undercoat recently).

Then after painting them I used a spray Matt varnish from an art shop. This seems to have worked fine though on my D&D minis (which are made from a more rubbery plastic) it hasn't dried and they're still sticky :(

I'm not sure if they're gonna chip as I haven't played with them much and they are stored in a segregated way.

I drank while I was doing a few of them, but it started to make my eyesight too blurry to work so I had to stop.

Thumbs up !!! Zombies rule, and painting mummies are harder than you think. I have stopped painting years ago, and not sure if I could get back into it or not, my eyesite is getting ... well its... ok i need bifocals or a large magnifing glass.
