My favorites were Deathtrap Dungeon and Island of the Lizard King.

This book showed up last week and my son loved it. We made it through the first time without dying, but we were unable to get the treasure at the end. So we still have to go back through again. With our map, this will be easy. So I ordered the 10 pack from Amazon. Thanks for the great find GK!

Anyone ever play the Warlock of Firetop Mountain board game? I'm thinking about checking it out, if I can get one for a reasonable amount on eBay...

The Lone Wolf choose-your-own -adventure books followed in the States. I doubt it holds the same nostalgic value for posters in this thread, but they are made freely available at

Why would you say that?
The two series are absolutely on par in quality of writing and art alike.
The main difference being that The Lone Wolf was a genuine cycle, a campaign of originally 12 adventures with a connecting plot.

But these are the two nostalgia-inducing mainstays of the genre to me.
Nothing else can hold a candle up to either of them.

FF was a "patchwork" world, built by multiple people. LW is entirely Joe Deaver's work. THey both have very different feels.

Greywood Publishing are creating another board game for Firetop Mountain. A warning though, the Lone Wolf Board Game didn't go too smoothly. The game exists and has been shipped to most backers (and is of excellent physical quality), it's just the running of it left a bad taste in many mouths.
