oh I know about real life interfering with gaming! :o :? :x :p

However, just spoke with a friend of mine I haven't seen in a few months and we have set a definite date for gaming one day in January and hopefully that will spark an interest in getting something regular going. I am going to introduce him to Deadzone as I think it is great and theres going to be some good things happening in the warpath world in 2017. I also want to get some HQ or advanced HQ down in 2017 :)

I have also vowed to get ticekts for Salute 2017 with some friends too :)
Please PM me if any of my old links to files are currently down. I am in the process of hosting them somewhere new!

:)

First of all before i can carry on doing anything with my HQ hobby, i need to finish building a model farm yard (i'm a dairy farmer) for my 2 young boys. I'm almost there with it and figure they will play with that before they get old enough for Questing! Its been on going for 2 years, mainly because i switch between the farm yard and HQ and never finish either. So my aim is to be more disciplined and complete one thing before moving onto another. I get distracted far too easy.

I want get casting hirst art blocks again and get furthur on with the 3d Heroquest board. Its just so time consuming, but time enjoyably spent.
I hope paint more minis in between casting and building but when my Zealot furniture arrives, i'm sure i wont be able to resist focusing all my attentions on painting that.

I would also like to try and join a local gaming group or meet like minded people so i can actually play Heroquest!

Anyway all the best to everyone for 2017 :)

We continue to play HQ weekly and have a nice constantly evolving setup.

I anticipate this to continue into the new year. I'm working on a few small QPs for them to find and adventure through and a whole host of smallish side quests - most of these using some HeroicMaps maps that I've had printed on vinyl. Can't say enough about how that keeps things from getting stale.

I agree. I have already planned a modular setup and just uploaded my first modualr questbook, based on Kellar's Keep and Skaven.
I also plan on using the tiles from the D&D boardgame from 2003 because these are gonna be fun to build as 2.5D,
what with all the forest and ice and flocking and such...

Not to derail here or anything......does anybody know of a good way to store vinyl maps?

Most of mine are 3' x 3' (with some larger and some smaller). At the moment they just lay stacked on top of each other on a spare basement table. This is fine, but it takes a lot of horizontal real estate. Rolling them up could work, if it could be done with many rolled together, but that makes retrieving that one map you need for the night difficult. I'm not even sure what would work best in a perfect world.

Maybe individual rolls in containers would be the best compromise.
Do they unroll easily and stay flat?

This is where my brain went as well. A google search for plastic storage tubes or similar, should [does] bring up some options. I suppose PVC tubing could work too and *May* be cheaper. In an ideal world, we'd all have plenty of extra space in our game-caves for a standing rack with a vertical series of dowel rods for draping maps and gaming mats.

Hmmm.....Yes they do unroll to be flat pretty quickly, especially if the board face is rolled outward. They all shipped in tubes, but they actually takes up more storage space. If I could come up with an easy handling method where I could put multiples wrapped together in one tube and find a way to easily pull out the one I'm wanting it may work.

What I'm thinking along the lines of is something similar (but not remotely) to the old wooden things that libraries put newspapers in. Or maybe a wall mounted rack of some sort with padded clips where I could hang a bunch of them on the wall then flip through and remove just the one I want.

Ah! If only I were an engineer!

Perhaps put several in same tube then use binder tabs to quickly find the Quest you want.

I think you got my general drift, sort of a ladder of dowels to drape maps and mats over. I don't think you need to be an engineer though. A couple of 2x4s secured to the wall as a frame, and holes drilled for dowels (or similar), maybe every other rung offset by an inch or so, would probably suffice. Even better might be "Open" access so you could lift the dowels out of their rests? Sort of like, THIS SWORD HANGER, but wider obviously.

I don't know, but I imagine a little creativity could go a long way there.
