So it's the 20th anniversary of the first game. 20 freaking years! Feels like it was yesterday I was looking for mew under the truck...

Been steadily catchin' em all but sadly I missed out on Hoopa...
I thought I would ask here (why not?) if anyone has either a Hoopa for trade or a functioning code laying around.

Also general Pokemon thread I guess 8-)

Heh... Kind of silly for me to post in a thread just to say, Nope, don't Pokémon ("Do you even Pokémon bro"?)...

But, nah, I don't...*Chuckle*...

I didn't even hear OF it until the CCG came out. I'm just too old really. By the time it came out, I was reading for my A-levels at college, listening to Carcass, and playing 40k.

I've played the card game. It has the same fatal gameplay flaw that all CCGs have, but it is 10 times better than MtG just because it doesn't introduce unnecessary complexity.

What flaw would this be? ...Is it that a large portion of the cards available for play are worse or strictly worse than some of the others?

Best cards are usually the most rare aka most expensive.
Also the randomness. If you can't draw energy or monsters you are boned. No matter how good a deck, sometimes you loose to a bad draw.

I agree that the complexity of MtG is both it biggest strength and it's downfall. I have a hard time getting my friends to play MtG, but something more simple as Card Wars we can all enjoy.

A player with a moderately lucky start (good combination of cards) can beat the other player into submission. It's rarer to have a balanced game when both players have balanced decks. One player gets a powerhouse card and is able to win turn after turn while the other player has to scramble defenses and find something to stop it. Dicemasters, which is a bit like a CCG although it uses dice, seems to have fixed the problem for the main part. Actually, I shouldn't have said "all CCGs" in the first place, I haven't played enough of them to know if some of the less common ones have fixed it, which I'm sure they have.

...Is it that a large portion of the cards available for play are worse or strictly worse than some of the others?

That's the fatal flaw with the CCG system, well fatal in that I refuse to buy into such a system. My kids just see shiny stuff they want to buy though, so I end up playing them either way.

That's pretty funny Goblin-King... Particularly as it fairly sums up a conversation I just had about a week ago with one of my Resident Pharmacists (who is a Pokemon junkie)...*Smirk*...
