I'm working on new logos this weekend. My biggest problem is that I have no
access to any good picture editing program...I think the only one I have the
basic adobe photoshop - they version before they moved everything to online.

And besides that, my artistic skills are next to nothing. I've got some ideas of
some things I can do, even with my limited software and abilities.

I appreciate the comments, though. It is giving me more ambition and drive
to work on it, to make sure it looks better.

And what is this game? After looking around all you've said is it's like Heroquest so it's a fantasy game but how does it work? Are there any test videos? Any back story? etc.

I am working on a Quick Start guide now - it will be up for free as soon as it is finished.
This will give players 5 characters, ready to play. They will be a Human Warrior type character,
an Elf Ranger type, a Dwarf Priest type, a Halfling rogue/thief type, and a Gnome Wizard type.

It will also include a short adventure that walks the GM and players through some of the basics
of how to play - moving through the wild, searching, combat, etc. There will be pieces in the
adventure which the GM will either read to himself/herself, or will read to the players, that will
show them exactly how certain actions are done.

Basically, though, it is like this. I took the HeroQuest game...the game play, to be specific...and
created my own role playing game from it. The game play is very similar...players use regular six-
sided dice for their rolls. Most rolls are successful with a 4 or 5 or 6 (the equivalent of the skulls on
the combat dice). Some roll are only successful with a 5 or 6 (equivalent of white shields).

I added a lot to it, though. I added actions - jumping, swimming, climbing, etc. - and I designed a
means of making the characters better at what they do. This does not use classes or levels, like most
RPG's. The characters have to use their treasure (gold) to train in whatever they wish...weapon use,
magic, healing, enchanting weapons and armor, weapon craft, etc. You can make any sort of character
you wish, as long as you have the gold and the time to do so. I have rules that explain how much gold it
takes to train for specific areas, and how long they take. Most training is done during a period of 8 hours
for so many days...this leaves some time during the day in which the characters can do other things,
leaving room for good roleplaying, if the group likes to do that. If not...they can just skip through all
of that sort of thing, the GM can stipulate that the training was completed, and they can go on
their way.

I started with the base monsters and spells from HeroQuest, and added A LOT to these. I also added a
lot of home-designed treasures and magic items, as well. You can actually get a feel for what those
will be - look at my expansion rules - the monsters, spells, and treasures I posted here are most of the
same for my game system - just rewritten to fit properly.

I will post here when the Quick Start Guide is ready to download.

Okay folks - there are some issues with physical printing through DriveThruRPG...issues that I can't
really understand and don't know how to fix. SO...I'll just keep it for digital downloads on DriveThru,
and we'll do physical prints through Amazon.

And keep an eye here...I hope to have the Quick Start Guide up soon, and perhaps a book of short
stories, poetry, and character journals soon (maybe another month or two on this book).

At first, congratulations and good luck for your book and your company.

But we want to know more about the game. Here in yeeolde you know most of us. We are players who love to play with minis on a board, we love to make stories, to paint our minis, etc. So, I guess most of the people here want to know… Is it a pure RPG with easy rules? Is it like the RPG rules of WHQ? Is it like HQ that plays on the board but with more actions? Does the rule book contain any adventure that shows how it plays?

in my opinion you could share an adventure (or part of it) that uses the rules from the book.

Also, the artwork is ok but I expected a more sword and sorcery look. Though, I don’t know how much it costs for a professional to do the job.

Here is the newest post on the Fantasy Game Strategies Facebook page:

Wondering what Questing Heroes is all about? Wish you could check
it out just a bit before buying the book? Here is your chance:

Farmer Laiten's son and daughter have been kidnapped! The distraught farmer
says a group of Goblins, led by what he thinks is a Witch, have taken them. And
it is clearly obvious to you that the villager of Nulren are simply not up to the task
of getting them back.

Find out what who this Witch is and who she works for in the Witch of Bareen Woods,
a new adventure and quick start guide for the Questing Heroes Role Playing Game.
Coming September 2016! The best part of this news - IT WILL BE FREE!

Patroclus - sorry I didn't see your post until now. I check here every other day or so, but
somehow missed it. I hope the latest update will answer a bit for you. There will be an
adventure coming out soon - I'm aiming, actually for September 1st right now. It will
include 5 basic...somewhat stereotypical...heroes, premade and ready to play. It will
walk players and Game Master through a few of the basic rules for game play.

And as I said, it will be free. I will post it directly in this thread for everyone here at the
inn, for ease of access. Basically, though - it is a role playing game with rules based on
HQ game play, which makes it easy to learn and play. I don't know if they are similar to
WHQ; I've never seen those rules. I made these myself using expansions I made for Heroquest
over the years...just changed a few things and add a lot to it.

There are, at this point, no minis or furniture or anything...not even dice. You use just plain
six-sided dice for this game. Those here at the inn who play HQ will quickly see the similarities,
and you could probably easily get by using the combat dice instead of regular dice.

As for the art...I was a little disappointed to publish without art, as well. I really didn't
have much choice, though. I have very little money to put into this on the front end, and
my artistic skills are next to nothing. I had searched around for a long while trying to find
either free art online, or artists who would be willing to do stuff for free or who would agree
to be paid from profits. Very little was found in either situation.

I have a very good business plan for saving up money for various things....and I already have
one comic book shop that has agreed to put up flyers and/or business cards for free. So, I
will save up my monies and get art done as I can, and once I have enough for the book, I
will publish a second edition. Or, at least, I will be able to put art into other books, at that
point.

Either way - it will be a while before that can happen. I'm just going to trudge along, write
what I can and publish what I can, and hope gamers can look beyond the "no art" issue and
see the game system for what it is.

OH, BY THE WAY - Even if you don't want to play Questing Heroes...remember, this game system is based
on the HeroQuest board game. With some minor tweaks, you can easily use The Witch of Bareen Woods
with your HeroQuest groups. This is only the first of many adventures, and there is a sequel planned for
the future (possibly by the end of the year...we'll have to see what happens...the adventure lead is at
the end of the quest, though).

Remember - a six-sided die in Questing Heroes equals a combat die in HeroQuest. The 4 or 5 or 6 is equivalent
to the Skulls on a combat die. A 5 or 6 is equal to white shields. A 6 is equal to black shields.

So, even if you don't care about Questing Heroes...enjoy the adventure. It is short, but could lead to great
future possibilities.
