Hi all

I am nearly ready to paint my bases! at long last!! But I am a little stuck. I want the bases to be grey/blue I guess. Would anyone recommend a colour scheme for my bases. I am going to use modelling sand then paint them a grey/blue colour. Well that is the plan anyway. before I buy paint I would like to know if there are good choices of grey and blue to go for

I am a mixer, so I tend to buy the basics of colours then mix them into the colour I want as I need it.
If your getting over priced GW paint, then a shadow grey is a fairly blueish gray.
It might be an idea to start from black give a heavy dry brush of a darker blueish gray, then a light dry brush of of a whiteish grey.

What do you mean by grey/blue? Like stone, or an abstract style?
For stone, use greys, lighten them up with offwhites, darken them down with black.
If you want that to have a blue tint, then that means that you put a tiny amount of a true blue in there.

Thank you for the info, I am still very much a novice when it comes to painting. I will be getting 'overpriced' GW paints...only thing is I don't pay for them hahaha So a shadow grey would be good. Okidoki brilliant I will get some tomorrow. Of course, lighting and darkening the grey with shades, why didn't I think of that! It's just that I read somewhere online recently about painting bases it the person used a grey blue mix. I have some nice blue paints so will experiment

I paint mine solid black. I feel it is simple and puts the attention on the Figure.

I don't wanna trick anybody. Like BOB, I'm a mixer. I mixed a grey from pink and green once. Try it.

I think I'll just give mixing a try, although I will make sure I am ready to paint all my bases in one go as I doubt I'll get the mixing the same twice!

go get a load of empty paint pots from the pound shop, and keep a paint log... I left a note around one of these threads about keeping a paint log, have no idea where though!

You should keep a post-log, then.
