Possibly the best music video ever inspired by Heroquest.

Not exactly HeroQuest, but equal or greater in scale of epicness!

I gotta go with Wonderboy by Tenacious D. Unfortunately, the Mucky-muck Man has banned its play on Youtube. Try this link:

It loads slowly.

I had to give it a second chance. The first time I watched it I was ho hum about it. The second time was a lot better. So many gaming references to be said. I couldn't stop thinking about the need for a Cleric... I mean honestly. You never leave home without one...

If you have no Cleric then be sure everyone in the party has at least 3 heal potions. And the good and powerful ones not those lousy D6 ones that have an inexplicable way of rolling 1's and 2's!
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

For me rather than have say 2d6+x (x being whatever the standard bonus is) for healing I like giving 1d6+6+x or even 1d4+8+x to ensure players don't get screwed out of some needed HP. That's happened to me way too often. Always bring a Cleric, a party of 4 Clerics is obscenely hard to bring down...

Of course they do. It's a well-known application of Murphy's Law.

Incidentally, if you apply a minimum heal of 3 to the effects of a Potion of Questionable Healing, it and the standard "heals 4 Body Points" potion have exactly the same expected outcome. (One die has 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6 as its faces, and the other has 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4. Both dice sum to 24, just arranged differently.)

Also, if you have a pair of Sicherman dice, you can roll the die with the 8 on it instead of a normal d6, to give a better spread of healing values. Getting a 1 still sucks, but the other faces more than make up the difference on average. (The easiest way to simulate such a die with "normal" d6es is to treat all rolls of 2 as 8s instead.)
