It seems like every gaming group I've been to 3 recently all have the same Lifetime branded tables. I'm guessing that there is some sort of theme that gamers secretly have that they are refusing to let me know about. And everyone has bainted theirs grey as well. Anyone want to clue me in?

Edit: I came across the image while lurking through chaoticprime's images.

My brother's friend Mike built a table identical to that top one. He contacted the store that built it, and got their specs for them.

Also, in that bottom right photo in the second group of them, they are using type-setters' drawers to display miniatures.

We plan to buy more, but they're only available as antiques, and the bastards at the nearest Antique Mall that sells them wants $65.00 for each of their six. My brother built the other racks with plaster bricks.

But below are what I dream about. At least in regards to gaming . I have been wanting one of them for so long I forget a lot of people haven't seen or heard about them. Basically a recessed gaming area so you never, NEVER have to clean up your gaming stuff. Simply open it up and GAME ON! Just check out 'Geek Chic' and you'll see plenty of what I'm talking about.

When I was at GenCon a couple months ago, I saw them selling these tables. One of the table models was priced at over $9,000 USD*. :o The deluxe model was over $12,000 USD!

That's my book. Nice guy. Not very friendly. I made that spinal logo myself.

Also, those maptiles to the upper left? Those are Maike05's from the local thread.

Lifetime tables are $45.00 each. They also get marked up from being wrecked by crafting as well as gaming. Sometimes a new surface must be applied, or writing becomes impossible.

Yeah... I saw that the first time and laughed. Even IF WHEN I have that kind of money I'll still not spend it on a gaming table. I'd rather build my own ghetto-fab version and save the rest for retirement. Well first I'd splurge for a few minis and then save the rest for retirement. If I ever do end up building my own table I'll necro this thread and post pictures of it.

Yeah, GeekChic does great work, but damn.... Too expensive. I plan on eventually making one myself once I get the basement cleaned and the office and bar built. Then, the gaming table will rise.

Some neat pics there. My father-in-law retires soon and when he started working, his trade was a joiner and cabinet maker and he's looking at getting back to his roots in retirement. He managed to pick up a lathe at a great price so we're (zee wife and I) thinking of seeing if he and I can build a half decent gaming. We couldn't fit one in our townhouse but we won't live here forever.

Any suggestions for features? Thinking raised edges, felt finish, drawers. Haven't thought about shape / design but would assume a rectangle that would comfortably fit 6? Most of our games are 5 and 6 player games.
