Recently I played some 'ol videogames.....this is one of 'em:

QUEST FOR THE RINGS on the Philips Videopac G-7000 (called Odyssey2 in the USA)

The screen may be very old skool...

But what really makes this game so cool is the fact it's part videogame.....part boardgame:

An overlay for the computer, a cool book, a high quality board (in fact, the quality is better than the HQ board), loads of plastic and metal tokens.....in the early 80's I loved it as a kid. This (and the movies Dragonslayer and Krull) were my first step in the Fantasy world....

I liked as a child playing on the computer zx-spectrum. I had a hit for the cycle on the Dizzy games, just like on this computer text quests and HeroQuest. Later, already began to play on the pc IBM-486. Enjoys playing games such as Dark omen, Divine divinity, Diablo. From modern liked to play Warhammer Online. December 18 will disconnect the server,It is a pity. like skyrim. :P

Did you guys see this? It looks like a very faithful board to video conversion of Talisman.

Yeah, what's the point in miniature games if you can't paint the miniatures? ;)

(Though I love Dawn of War 2)

Pc games can’t get compared with boardgames. First of all in boardgames you can create house rules, make more items, use other heroes and miniatures, etc etc, but best of all you can play with your friends, eat snacks, say jokes and roll your dices by yourself. Though, about talisman if it has all the expansions it could be real nice to play them.

Another very good game you should play, is the space hulk for pc… Though it’s the 3rd edition, it’s exactly as the boardgame, but you can’t create your own quests and you can’t put other enemies from the WH40k universe as you could do in the boardgame.

That's how I feel about gaming. I have done various games over the years and yeah it's fun to play with friends but nothing beats getting together and gaming face to face.

Is it just me or have a lot of video games lost that 'little bit of something' that used to make a lot of them great? Or have I just grown up (still not admitting to being an adult). It seems like most games are missing any real substance and fall flat compared to 10+ years ago.
