The Neural Net keeps mixing up Alchemist table with the Frozen Horror Throne Room, and the Bookcase with the Cupboard. The latter I do understand, in the one corner they really look alike. But the former? *sigh*

A more conventional image recognition based on analytic metrics (like a bar code dark-light pattern) would not make either of these mistakes and you could "train" it faster. This type of system has been used successfully in automotive to recognize speed limits from signs, and even distinguish locality in Europe by the font used for the numbers. Is there a thread for your scraper? What is your objective?

Suggestion: If you have found a bounding box for the whole map then size of the sub-element should be a constraint in your classification process. It should not be possible to confuse a room tile with a furniture item ;)

I finally began to paint the old GW Talisman 3rd edition Fire Wizard miniature for my 7 years old son, since he began to play Warhammer Quest as android mobile game on his tablet and seems to like this character a lot. His absolute favourite in this game is the Chaos Barbarian, though, with his insane amount of powerful melee attacks each round with the proper equipment, but I've painted the board game version of this barbarian already long time ago. My son doesn't play HQ with the original set of heroes, allthough we've got them, he prefers the alternative GW minis of the same production time frame of various other sources like Talisman 3rd. ed., Warhammer Quest or Advanced Hero Quest, which fit so well into original HQ. The Warhammer Quest tabletop Barbarian is pretty much my favourite Barbarian mini by Citadel/GW, too, so I can't blame him. Anyway the Fire Wizard used to be still missing paint, so I started this mini today and already got the robe, shoes, gloves, hair, face, sword and part of the staff finished. Still missing belt, keys and other details though.

I decided that I wasn’t going to sit around waiting for the release of the new Mythic Version of HeroQuest to be released next year. So I picked up a Euro version of HQ that someone was selling in the area. And I ran across ROTWL and Kellar’s Keep at comparatively reasonable costs.

I’m working on cleaning up the models in a British version core copy of HeroQuest and NA copies of ROTWL AND Kellar’s Keep. My goal is to get all the models cleaned and DW-flashed and then work on painting them.

As I’ve been working with the plastics between the two editions it’s come to my attention that the NA version is ‘lighter’ with a harder plastic, and it feels more brittle to work with. It doesn’t have as much flex or give in the models. They also have a ‘brighter’ note when they hit the table. More like I’d expect a board game piece to be, and less like the standard GW models of that vintage, which had a slightly softer plastic.

I like working with cleaning up the European version more. The models appear to have a slightly softer plastic. It has a definite “give” to it. The bases look “more finished.” And the bases look less like board game pieces than the NA version. Though I’m not sure that I would want to rebase the NA edition...

I find it also interesting that there are two of each type of Orc in the Kellar’s Keep box. Including the sword with notch. Which doesn’t align with the core box, where there is only one Orc with a notched sword. (Even though the total model count is identical.)

Oftkilted, What do you mean with "cleaning up the european version"?
There are 4 kind of orcs in game-system and the same are in KK (it is the same sprue): 3 sword, 1 notched sword, 2 morning star and 2 cleaver

I’m “cleaning up” the models by removing all of the mould lines and casting imperfections on them.

Being that these are second hand, and the original owners were apparently board game players not painters they didn’t bother with any kind of cleanup. And apparently followed the box instructions by twisting the models off the sprue, leaving twisted plastic on the base.

Ahh, interesting. That means they gave me components from an alternate box. As that gives me a total of 3 notched swords between the base set and Kellar’s Keep. The nice thing is I can resolve that with a little bit of work!

The notched sword orc is more rare and valuable than the thers as it is only one on a set of eight pieces.

Hey Guys,
I have found a complete Finnish edition of HeroQuest and I have played the base campaign with my gaming group. Now I am looking into the expansions. They are really expensive but I have a knack for making my own game components, especially cards. I have now finished making the first two expansions and I am hoping to get my hands of the files from YeOldeinn and make some more. What are the best ways you have made your own expansions? Maybe 3D printing the minis? Maybe printing the files on cardstock on both sides and maybe using glue and cardboard to make the tiles. That is what I have been doing. It would be great to hear what you think are the best ways to make your own expansions.

Greetings from Finland
Erkko

Have been making some new themed boards using pictures and tiles I've found in various places on line. I can't remember who was responsible for what and have therefore not credited anyone so my appreciation and apologies goes to anyone who recognises any of their work here.
