i went with the testors flat gray on all mine i like the uniformitty.i'd like to see black bases post some pics lordzeke :)

I did the coloured bases cause most of the people I play with aren't from a gaming background and I thought it would help them. But soon after I did it I realised that it would have been nicer to have all the bases in black. I regret it but they are all varnished now so I can't repaint them :(

I have lots of minis that have just stood un-varnished for eons because I want to be absolutely 100% sure they are as finished and good as they can possible get.
You know what they say: Once you go varnish, you never go back!

Yah i am redoing mine... they originally were painted with a very poor selection of colors and i was 8 years old so the quality was poor. I have the undead done... but I can't convince myself to varnish!

when i sprayed/polyurthane mine it made my gold dull and my whites yellow so i just "finished/varnished" my heros/gamesystempieces. ihope i'm not coming across as a nut job here at the inn. i'm very excited to meet fellow HQ peeps , not trying to flood ....

If you want both a colour-scheme and good looking bases, you can always simply do the base any way you want, and leave the edge clear to paint in any colour you want.
