A Growl of Thunder Sorcerer

Isn't it weird that the Chaos Sorcerer in A Growl of Thunder doesn't really have any spells?

I understand it's a solo adventure... but then why even make him a Sorcerer?

Perhaps he is only pretending to be a sorcerer to get the Orcs to give him the magical items? He has the stats of a slightly more powerful chaos warrior (Champion?) which would also explain why he is as clueless as to how to use the magical items as the orcs are!

And now I'm a Chaos Warrior!

Perhaps it was creative license to match the theme of the book, The Tyrant's Tomb. A Chaos Sorcerer is featured on the cover which resembles the Barbarian's climatic battle in the Quest.
