Witchlord vs Skeletor.. we know who would win, but what if they joined forces?? hahahahahha

He-Man, Orko, Ram-Man, and Teela on a quest together? Or maybe the Sorceress and Man-At-Arms...

Thread resurrection! :D

I managed to get bob to start on an Orc Warlord in a classic HQ style. Personally i love the way this work in progress photo is looking - it's like classic 1980s goodness, with a modernised dynamic pose :D

I agree. Cool, but not a match for the 1989 orcs.

Too much detail and an oversized weapon. Not really a classic HQ match, in my opinion.

The weapon looks like a cross between the cleaver and a sword, and the Orc himself looks like a cross between an Orc and a Warhammer Skaven. Again, interesting, but would stand out next to the original minis.

It is an interesting blend of new and old styles, but I think I agree with others that it blends in with new style minis much better. Probably it's the whole modern dynamic pose. Part of why 25mm or 1 inch spacing no longer works for minis is that everything's taking up all the space around it flailing its arms and legs every which way with weapons and wings and shields and cloaks flared out everywhere.

It's actually the major reason I kind of prefer "oldhammer" minis myself.

Probably the case! I asked Bob to make it suitable for white metal spincasting, since I think we will cast this fella like that for a proper 1980s GW vibe.
Rather than injection plastic monopart HQ mini level.
So I guess the detail is more 80s - 90s oldhammer metals than HQ plastics :P

I was hoping to get a Sir Ragnar done next but I think we are going to need some concept art and a forum discussion on what the mini should look like, so that we keep it in the realm of the "classic HQ style" which we all love
