Anyone used KILI THEKKRSSON?

I'm wondering how he is? What changes if any did you do to him for the us version?

When trying to translate him to the usa version myself, I saw he's really only a dwarf with one more wound that can't use crossbows or plate armor but starts with a broadswrod and starts with 1 defense die. Translating him to usa rules based on what he has made him seem almost exactly like the normal dwarf.

I haven't used him, but after referencing all three pages of The Halls of Durrag-Dol and the Advanced Heroquest version, I think I can offer an example of how to convert him:

• The AHQ Trollslayer has the same Wounds as an AHQ Dwarf, so I'd bring the HQ Trollslayer Body Points down to 7 to match the HQ Dwarf. That would give him 7BP/3MP, totalling 10 like the other Heroes.
  
• Lose the traps ability. He's a Trollslayer, so he should be distinguished from the Dwarf. The author dropped the firebomb here.
  
• Advanced Heroquest Trollslayers have the option to go beserk (2 attacks, -2 WS). I'd treat it as 1 less Defend Die and 1 extra Attack Die. So he starts out with a Hand axe (or Shortsword if you want to stick with the Armory), but it is bumped by +1. A Battle Axe will eventually give him 5 Attack Dice. DIE TROLL!
  
• Prohibiting Plate Armor and the Crossbow work like the AHQ Trollslayer, so keep those exclusions. I might even go one better and prohibit the Shield to more resemble the AHQ Trollslayer. Medic!
  
• Because his starting Defense is just 1, Chain Mail from the Armory will only bring him up to 2 Defend Dice, not the 3 Defend Dice of the EU equipment card. Works for me.

I think all of these options make the Trollslayer a danger to both his foes and himself. This thematic option should appeal to high-risk players.

The card would look something like this:

rolling 1 more Attack Die
in combat, but also rolling
1 less Defend Die.

Yeah, I saw that one--it looks great. Too bad I'm not as proficient as Sjeng at making cards yet, otherwise I would have stolen his image idea and posted my alternative here.

I offered another example as Fullork345, myself, and others from another thread feel the Advanced Heroquest version was poorly converted to HQ. Also, my comments cited a US rule difference for Chain Mail, something Fullork345 was asking about. Finally, it was fun converting the AHQ Trollslayer, though it took some persistent searching. I had previously converted some of the other AHQ Henchmen in another thread because I feel the close parallel in game worlds deserves conversion.

After so many wasted turns due to bad movement rolls in The Manse Macabre play-by-post, I had an idea for a change to the berzerk ability, but I dunno if it would work well or not.

Once per turn the Trollslayer can increase his "berzerker rage" by sacrificing a body point: this increases his attack dice by 1 and decreases his defend dice by 1. When he finally attacks, his attack and defend dice return to normal at the start of his next turn. He can increase his berzerker rage each turn until his defend dice are reduced to 0.

So theoretically:
ATTK 3 :: DEF 4 :: BODY 7
can become
ATTK 7 :: DEF 0 :: BODY 3

If his next attack roll isn't a botch he could annihilate a powerful enemy, or any enemy that absolutely must die before Zargon's turn... if he survives long enough to reach it.

Though a less crazy or desperate trollslayer might just increase his rage a couple times and leave it at that. In any case, the body points aspect should keep him from abusing it.
