Greetings Fellow Dungeon Crawlers

Hey everybody, I have recently been wandering around this website for inspiration on how to convert the Heroquest game and some of the figures.

To be honest I have never been a big fan of Warhammer Fantasy. having played mainly Warhammer 40k back in 5th edition and haven't really been back since (things got too expensive *I say as I spend 150 on a board game* and I honestly don't like GW as a company much anymore) I was a big Ork and Chaos Space Marine player always looking to customize characters and vehicles and even finding myself buying the older editions of Warhammer 40k (Hell I have the 1st edition a.k.a. Rogue Trader, and even some models from that era). I've always loved the older GW models and books so this fit in pretty well.

I have recently found out about this game through a facebook video which was originally created by Bardic Broadcasts, I think you all know what video I am talking about:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx8sl2uC46A

Now I am currently building up my forces of monsters:
- I bought a 100% complete Heroquest set on Ebay and even bought some extra Fimir, Orcs and Goblins, I got 3 extra Chaos Warriors, and I also got my hands on 8 Skeletons, 4 zombies, and 4 more mummies because YAY UNDEAD! (May or may not have an evil plan for them MUAHAHAHAHA).

Anyway I love converting games and miniatures and this game is not only awesome to start with but also allows me to do that.

I hope to get all expansions for the game and making my own monsters (I am already planning to buy a bunch of Chaos Cultists from my local GW store (only because one of my old friends/mentors works there still)) such as Chaos Cultists and Vampires. Also might add in some "Demon possessed"/"Chaos possessed" creatures.

Whilst I love Heroquest I prefer separating it between what is now Warhammer Fantasy, I much prefer thinking of it and designing it around a more generic Fantasy system where anything can happen. But that's just me.

At the moment I haven't played the game yet but plans between friends have been put in place to play it within the next 4 weeks.

Aside from that, a little about me:

I have always been a nerdy gamer, whether that be playing Warhammer 40k, DnD occasionaly, or just playing the Halo series on my X-Box. I have always loved great stories and great fun which is why I love gaming so much, if I want to be a giant space marine I can either play Halo or Warhammer 40k or some other sci fi game. If I want to be an elf I can play Lord of the Rings, etc etc. Stories let you live in other worlds, other planets, where things are brighter or problems can be solved easier/more straight forwardly.

That's pretty much about me.

As of now my plans are to make custom monsters and some extended rules to enhance the game with friends and even just playing it myself.

Welcome at the Inn! You told my story up there. 5th was the way to go. Afterwards the game itself became worse and the models too expensive.

In HQ you are not fixed on a manufacturer. You also don't need dozens and dozens of the same model. Go take a Lok at alternatives for your cultists. You will be surprised.

Just to make sure... you're not Wolf as in Biff's brother, right?

Yeah which is great, and thanks. Just searched for some Cultist Miniatures and came across Frostgrave Cultists which seem pretty cool (look a lot better than the Chaos Cultists). As far as painting goes I plan to (as of right now) just color code them:

  • Grey: Chaos
  • Black: Ogres
  • Green: Orcs/Fimir
  • Red: Heroes
  • Blue: Frozen Beasts
  • Orange: NPCs
  • Purple: Mercs
  • Brown: Misc

Well, he's not your brother. |_P
...
Kidding aside, Wolf is a member of OldScratch's, the other great HQ site, and Biff, his brother, is the admin.

Where exactly would I post about my Heroquest projects? Looking around I see a bunch of specific places for posting monsters you created, or custom figures, etc, but I don't see a general place to show the progress of my Heroquest game rules, monsters, conversions as a whole. Is there such a place?

My big present & develop thread for the whole rule system, for example, is under
HeroQuest Additions --> Rules.

Most members who want to show all of their various work in a single topic post at Board index ‹ Special Rooms ‹ Adventurer's Guild. But you already know that, as your expansive project now located there.
