I was just revisiting the Monster List in the Questimator. I soon found myself adding mind points and move to any monster in the list, and adding any monster that I found in any questbook into the list.

The list now also has a column for the edition; EU, NA or anything else in case of homebrew.

Should I consider the HQ25 monsters as belonging to the NA version? :-)

I believe the majority here use the NA stats. At least I've never read someone defending the EU stats in a conversation here.

Second that. I recall an early consensus within the project threads somewhere that NA monster stats would be used. Abilities may see separate NA and EU wording, however.

So in my monster list, those extra monsters appear under "NA"; and the questbook is named HQ25 for the time being. :D

We have a whopping 99 monsters in Heroquest. Not bad at all.

Feel free to explore. The format is a little bit technical as I want to directly reuse it in the code.

It's based on Mohawk's Monster list from his Questimator, blown up by some more features.

That's a whole lot of Morcar/Zargon fun. I see for numbers 53 and 54 you chose the Zanwrath NA localization over the original EU Zanrath. I've always preferred the original--oh well, at least it's consistent with the NA group.

What first caught my eye is that number 53 has a misspelling, Zanwarths. I'd also add an apostrophe there. I'd also change arquebussier to arquebusier.

Also, number 39, the Witch Lord reincarnated, has some obscured spells.

I did not know that. Is "wrath" also a German word?

I referenced the Bradley Boruch British/European download at heroquest.no-ip.com.

No.
No 10-year-old German kid would have recognized the word wrath in the name. Well, not "no...kid", but you know what I mean.
I'm trying to say, the original version the Germans translated from MUST HAVE BEEN "Zanwrath".

Well, then I wonder where Zanwrath originated from, as it wasn't present in the UK Wizards of Morcar I cited. The Inn's UK and AU WoM also have Zanrath. [French and Spanish as well. I imagine at least a few other languages also contain the original Zanrath. It could be mistranslated. -edit]

It could be "mistranslated" by Mr Smartypants who put the "wrath"-pun into there, making my 10-yr-old self wonder how to pronounce this *lemony goodness*.
Back then, I didn't recognize the -wr- cluster as English and I would not have been the only one.
They should have simply translated all four Wizard's names because in contrat to almost any other names used in HQ, which were generically spelled (as in "Fantasy", with rather clear spelling for every reader to pronounce it in a "right" way), the Wizards' names were spelled distinctly English, which makes for confusion. I could go on an on about German translators and dubbers in all walks of the art...

I'm sure I've ranted about that before... |_P
