Yea for the same reason a shortsword can attack diagonally, they're small and light so you can easily reach over. Daggers can't be thrown though, knives can (and retrieved although weapons can get damaged or broken when they're thrown) and they can attack diagonally. I don't want to change rules for things that already exist but daggers don't in the Euro rules.

Yes, Euro weapon rules. You don't have a shortsword though. You have an ordinary sword and a dagger. Remember you can attack with both if you don't move as well.
