For over two years now I've been streaming HeroQuest games live on twitch. My setup is a little different than probably most you've seen, as I use the real physical board and pieces, cards, etc. and point my cameras at the game. Not only that, but the people who join are all remote players.
So far we've played our way through the Frozen Horror (plus Into the Northlands), as well as Mage of the Mirror, Rogar's Hall, Rise of the Dread Moon (plus KnightFall), and are now most of the way through Crypt of Perpetual Darkness. We've also recently started Jungles of Delthrak.
We stream live on http://www.twitch.tv/heroquestfans (the schedule is posted on the website to show when we're streaming or when we're on vacation) on Friday afternoons (2:15-4:15pm... this time slot is often flexible, so we can go longer if the players want to) and Saturday nights (7-9pm with a hard stop most of the time at 9) both in the central time zone.
Viewers can watch the live stream and interact via the Twitch chat (creating an account is free if you don't already have one), and the text appears onscreen as we play.
Viewers accumulate "Gold Coins" (channel points) as we go. If you "follow" us you can get more, and if you subscribe (not required, though subbing costs money, unless you have Amazon Prime in which case you can use your "Prime Gaming" for the month to get a "free" subscription if you haven't already used it) you get a multiplier. Don't worry, it's not pay to play and it's not pay to win (I hate that crap). These are just fun ways to influence the quest, like add an extra monster, give the good (or bad) guys an extra random card, that sort of thing.
If you want to control a hero (you basically keep track with pencil & paper and tell me where to move the character, what your action will be when it's your turn, etc), the best way is to go into our Discord (HeroQuestFans) voice channel known as "quest talk." Join https://discord.gg/gnCFx47QEK and plug into the voice channel Quest Talk.
We roll virtual dice (so everyone can roll their own on their turn).
!hqroll # [color]
rolls combat dice for example:
!hqroll 2 white 1 black
(rolls 2 white combat dice and 1 black. yes we use the german "power dice" in our upgrade system)
Thanks to Ribby for designing "MentorBot" for us that manages these dice. These are blue, green, black, purple, orange, yellow, and "boss" (like the OLD orange dice that some remember). There are other colors too: gen, sqt, pot, dread, fh, dew, and jod (these are just reskins of the white dice in the various colors of the promo and retail dice sold in the avalon hill sets or given away at conventions over the years). And finally there are just some fun colors (same distributions as white dice) red, and pink.
!hqmove # [color]
Rolls movement dice.
these can be red or blue
!roll 1d#
can also be used for other types of rolls that just turn up numbers.
Whether you're a HeroQuest veteran, expert, or have never played before, we can get you up to speed and I bet you'll have fun.
We use a lot of extra homebrew rules, but they're time tested as pretty fair and easy to learn, otherwise it's based on the NA/remake rules and we'll get you up to speed!
