That's okay I had the same reaction (had to look it up). I thought maybe there was some guy named Trent who was "stoked" (excited) to play... 
I have no room to talk, there are a lots of oddly named placed in my nation (and state) too, to those who aren't from here...

It's because the town is called Stoke, but it sits on the river Trent, so it's official name is Stoke on Trent.
